Stayed here to celebrate our 16th Wedding Anniversary. Grade 1 listed building, with plenty of character. Staff extremely helpful & friendly. Great Bedroom, but would have been nice to have bath robes & 2 pin plug for razor.
Owners were not there, but staff looked after us well. Can highly recommend, great place for visiting the Lake District.
Give them a try.

Many thanks for your nice review and for choosing to visit for your anniversary break.. We do have 2 pin plugs for razors etc available from reception. We don't supply towelling robes any more as regrettably so many guests took them home, I replaced 40 one year and decided it wasn't cost effective given our competitive tariffs. However there are plenty of soft fluffy towels provided for our guests comfort. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and sorry we missed you on this occasion as we were taking our annual holiday before our busy season commences.

After a long drive from Heathrow my husband and I stumbled upon this historical gem.
The welcome was warm and friendly. One was made to feel part of the family. Nothing was too much trouble. The dinner and breakfast was excellent.
Very glad we stumbled upon this little gem.
Thanks for the wonderful night stay

We're really delighted at how happy you were with your short visit, despite such a long drive from London. So many people compliment us on our welcome, but we have come to feel that Moresby Hall has such a unique ambience it somehow supports our wish to provide the best hospitality we can, and a relaxed atmosphere for guests to enjoy. We hope we will see you again one day if you revisit the area for another holiday. Best wishes for 2018 - Jane

We stopped for one night. The service was friendly and we had a nice chat with the owners. Food was good and the room was neat and tidy. The history is amazing and the old roman fort next door is well worth a visit.

Many thanks for your positive review. Our guests are often fascinated by the history of Moresby Hall, not least due to the architectural importance of this Grade I listed building but also the proximity to the site of the Moresby Roman Fort - literally across the road. WHilst nothing remains of this fort, there is a wealth of information about the Romans and their time in West Cumbria all related of course to the importance of Hadrians Wall. Moresby Hall is built on the perimeter of the fort and some parts still in existance from around 1275 remain, such as the stairs to the pele tower in the rear of the hall. Best wishes - Jane

Charming hotel on beautiful grounds. Jane and David were very gracious. When I told them we were searching my families roots in Whitehaven David was most helpful. He directed us toMichael Moons Book Store in White Haven. We ended up buying a few with historical picutes of the area. Upon our return after a full day, Dave had downloaded birth, marriage and burial records for around the time the relatives lived ther! It was a great experience with a huge room with a very comfy bed! We will return!

We were delighted to see how comfortable you were with your stay and more importantly how successful your search into your ancestry was. We get a significant number of guests tracing their roots in this area, both European and USA guests and our public records office in town is a wealth of fantastic information run by helpful staff. Only open certain days of the week so check in advance if you are coming to do research. As we enter quieter periods of the year please check directly on our website to book, as it may be more economical to book directly with us rather than a booking agent online.

We stayed at Morseby Hall on a Friday and Saturday evening in the Copeland Suite. The customer service was second to none, warm and friendly without being intrusive, we really felt at ease on arrival and our host was a perfect gentleman. Our room was amazing, the view to the garden, and hills, the bed was so comfy and the bath to die for. Breakfast was a smooth and well managed affair, the breakfast staff were so helpful and very prompt. The breakfast was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, the food was brilliant and the range of breakfast goodies was superb!

We would highly recommend a stay at the hall, its the perfect base for exploring, but also so quiet and private, even a stroll around the Hall's garden, in the sun is well worth the time.

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Room Tip: Go for the Copleand room, its to die for.

How lovely to receive such a great review, and to know your stay and our service met all your expectations. Yes, my husband David is a perfect gentleman, who believes good old fashioned customer service is vital to ensure our guests are content when they visit. Although we are not a large hotel, our country guesthouse has many extra touches which we hope provides everything our visitors would expect and more. The Lake District is now a Unesco World Heritage site so all the more reason to book (direct on our website or phone us please) and we will see if there are any discounts or maybe a complimentary bottle of wine we can offer to make your stay even more memorable. Regards - Jane
