If you are travelling along the A684 Sedbergh to Hawes road try not to miss this old inn. It is isolated but welcomes hikers and their dogs that no doubt enjoy the relatively bleak countryside which surrounds the inn. The staff are very friendly and the service acceptable with traditional bar food freshly prepared. The indoor atmosphere is traditional pub and the outside tables provide excellent views. The inn asks that groups larger than 4 need to book and together with all tables on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings so beware dropping in on the off chance.

Just called for a drink this time but will be back for something to eat.
Lovely friendly pub and my friends said the beer was good. The service was great although it was quiet at that time of day.Tables outside for when it is sunny. The menu looked good.

This is a great and friendly pub with obvious local support . The beef is home reared on their farm and the steaks are the best we have lasted in a long long time . Guest ales very good. Would recommend this place

We booked for evening meal on the strength of the latest reviews , this has served us well but in this case not so
Service was ok and very freidndly , we ordered and drinks soon arrived as did the starters , I had pate.whoch was a little dry my whole fe had lerk and potato soup which didn't have much taste ,
Mains then arrived steak pie which was good , my wife had chicken with bacon and mushroom sauce , it contained 1 mushroom and was very thin and tasteless
Ice cream and cheeseboard were fine
Overall the meal wasn't great and we thought the food was basic at best but the place was packed and was very noisy at the bar

We frequent the Moorcock regularly due to its great ambience, food, service and general hospitality. Good beer too. Food is served all day until 8pm. The guys are always welcoming (a very pleasant change these days) and deserve to make a huge success of this place. Get yourselves along there and give them your support!
