Well where shall I begin:- Came her a couple of weeks ago for a family get together. Been here a few times over the years when visiting family in the area but can honestly say it's getting worse. This is a lovely little country pub spoiled by the lack of good management and some members of staff appearing miserable, apart from one young waitress, lovely girl, whose name I didn't get and the young bartender whose name I got as "Sam", lovely pleasant and very helpful young man which is more than can be said about the bar manager who actually couldn't care less. Could be a lovely pub to visit again if only certain staff and management bucked up their ideas and made you feel like they actually wanted you there. On a plus, food was nice but menu could do with having a bit more "pub grub" on the menu.

Room tip: Didn't sleep here.

I have stayed in a lot of pubs over the years and this has to be one of the cleanest I have ever seen. The room itself was airy with a comfy bed and a decent en-suite loo and shower room (not a cupboard with a shower in it like some I've seen). The staff were friendly and efficient, with both breakfast and evening meals well cooked and served quickly. I'd definitely recommend The Manor and will be returning if I need to stay in the area again.

Had lunch in the dining area. The service was excellent and menu was fine, I would particularly recommend the haddock goujons, which one of our party had. I will definitely be having them next time I visit.

We have been coming to the Manor for evening meals for a number of years and have never been let down, if anything it just gets better, great service. Allan the owner is a very hard working, welcoming host, the food is cooked and served to the highest standard, the draught alcohol is without doubt the best in the area, nothing is to much trouble. The bar is busy which in turn generates a good vibe into the restaraunt, give it a try,you will not be disappointed.

If you are hungry & find yourself passing The Manor in lovely St Bees, make sure you walk straight past and find somewhere else to eat. This is a case study in bad management; a well situated pub/restaurant in a pretty village that manages to be comically dreadful. We waited 40 minutes for a simple order while other people who arrived after us were served and a table who were seated before us remained unfed.A cheese and pickle sandwich featured semi-frozen bread with stale crusts. Scampi and chips were straight out of a freezer bag and the 'salad' was two slices of cucumber and a sliver of pepper and onion on a small wedge of iceberg lettuce. The obviously disenchanted waitress was trailed around by an elderly man - presumably the manager/owner - who insisted on double checking her orders and actions, while completely ignoring the room of increasingly impatient and hungry customers. Bad food, unacceptably slow service (not the waitress's fault) dismal surroundings and zero atmosphere.
