The area is very nice but the Park Rangers and State Troopers that patrol there seem to harass people an alarming amount. I took my dog for a walk there once and when I was getting ready to leave (sitting in my car getting my music and by belongings that were in my pocket situated), the Park Ranger (who was on the other side of the lot) pulled up behind where I was parked, blocking me in, and wouldn't move until I put my car in reverse and started backing up towards his cruiser, making him move so I could leave. He proceeded to follow me to the four way stop at Cannons Mills and Bell School Rd. Another time a State Trooper followed me at a crawls pace all the way around the walking circle in his cruiser while I walked my dog. I avoid that side of the park now as to not be harassed by law enforcement. I guess if you look like a white guy from the 50's you'll be ok, but if you look like anything thats not "white all-American" , watch out for the cops in the park, because they're looking to intimidate you.
Beautiful park with historic value. Very much worth your time to visit . Serene calming environment where you can be close to nature and wildlife. Be sure to see the mill and village and attend one or more of the festivities at the park. You can go horse back riding or possibly a day kayaking.
Beaver Creek is one of my all time favorite places to go. Exploring the buildings when they are open to the public, interacting with the people who are dressed in the colonial dressing at Pioneer Days. Being taught in the one-room school house and watching the blacksmith at work. Some much to see and experience! What a day your family and friends will have. There are also several playground around the park for children to send time enjoying.
Enjoy going to Beaver Creek State Park. The past few days my husband have been going there to walk and do some hiking the view is beautiful and the walk is wonderful. We took a hike back to Gretchen's Locke and was a very nice hike.
There isn't anywhere you can step on this property that isn't beautiful. It's easy to walk and enjoy nature at every turn. The old barn and village to bridge and Beaver Creek, it's perfect for a picnic!
Second time at this Park. Love the History this Park shows. Old chapel, homestead and so much more. Don't miss the little store. Next time we are planning a picnic and bringing fishing poles.
