Everything you could possibly want to know about polar exploration is revealed in documents of the day, archival footage, models and artefacts in a concise but detailed exhibition. Plus the lady who welcomed me knew so much and was so enthusiastic about the museum that I left with a smile on my face and much better informed than when I went in. Highly recommended.

The idea of a North Pole museum is very nice and as well the material exhibited, but if you visit it without having already and idea about the different expeditions most probably you won't undeastan or learn much. The exhibition is quite messy, too much material to read and the logic behind is very confusing. Defenetly needs to be reorganized but worth the visit.

The cost of entry is 100NK, which is around ten pounds. The museum deals with the expeditions to the North Pole that started in Svalbard. It is pretty well interpreted but consists mainly of photographs and models.

I was a little disappointed but there is a lot of information, especially about Italian polar exploration that is of interest.

It is certainly worth a visit, but could be merged with the larger Svalbard Museum

Thank you for you review.
The Museum cannot be merged with the other one! they are just different Museums with different purposes!

We really enjoyed this museum, so much packed into a small space! The text was numbered but sometimes hard to find the next number and text placement too close to the floor to read easily. Despite this, it had great artifacts and history. We could have used more time there but had a ship to catch!

We were hoping to have an interesting afternoon but this museum really has very little to offer. There were few exhibits but lots of printed sheets to read. It wasn't what I was expecting and was more boring than interesting.

Hello Gill300361!
We are sorry you did not like the museum, we don't think we have very little to offer! We have two floors in which we display a lot of pictures, movies, maps, old documents, old newspapers, old books and interesting artifacts. Lot of these things were provided by the relatives of some explorers.
Probably you are just not interested in this topic.

Thanks
have a good day
