Our favourite place for lunch, with our friend is closed for renovations, so we have visited a few establishments recently. The County did not disappoint today the food was delicious. The service was excellent. Really enjoyed our lunch. Look out our favourite place when it reopens you have competition.

Friday 17th February

Its a scenic village and The County stands proud on the green
the food was good but couldve been better to be honest, we had booked a table
but the place was chocker block, the noise was unreal

but we are here to review the food

Starter
Steamed Shetland Mussels
Curly Kale in a White Wine, Garlic Cream Sauce
wouldve been nice for the price to have a few more Mussels
the starter was fabulous however the quantity leaves a little to be desired

Main
14 Day 8oz British Fillet Steak
With Sautéed Wild Mushrooms, Tomatoes & Watercress and Chips

an 8oz steak (fiilet) looked completely lost on the plate for the price it wasnt great
ive eaten better steaks to be honest, i asked for medium it came just short of well done.. i wasnt going to twist

price of food is too expensive for what it is.. this isnt a 5 star hotel

would i eat here again, for the price no.
its not good value for money in my opinion

with drinks we got next to no change from a £100.00
with 3 drinks each
lager and bacardi and cokes

i recently had a Tomohawk steak, 12oz rib eye on the bone and a T-bone
all British meat from local suppliers for less than £21.00 (on seperate occasions of course)

All 3 courses were delicious. Beautiful fresh food, really well presented with balanced flavours and textures.
Will definitely return to try different things on the menu
Service was really friendly and that created a relaxed atmosphere

We visited on the recommendation of friends on a rare night when the kids were at the grandparents.
The food was OK, nothing special and a bit on the pricey side.
However there were a couple of issues with the service (mixed up order, wrong sides etc). Perhaps just a blip as they were busy (and noisy).
Overall a bit underwhelmed, maybe picked the wrong night.

This is an odd place sometimes, as they do let them selves down occasionally, but these are rare events indeed for the most part, the food is good, prices offer value for money.

Lunch especially is great value.

They don't change their menu as often as I would prefer, but that said its still good grub all round.

Wines prices offer good value and a reasonable selection

Beer - always an excellent range of craft beers on tap
