Visited this restaurant with a friend of mine on Wednesday and we were impressed how amazing and beautiful this place is. Ramen and Sushi to die for.
It was a bit hard to find as it's located off the High Street in a little alleyway, but it's a must visit place. Highly recommended.

Weren’t sure what to expect - popped in on a whim without having booked - especially as I don’t actually like sushi. Staff very friendly and attentive, happy to explain menu and make suggestions. Lots of choice - food freshly cooked, piping hot and very tasty. Also very reasonably priced!

4 of us booked a table for NYE and was a complete unorganized disaster. On arrival we were informed the kitchen was closed as we were 15 minutes late (our taxi was late so we arrived at 2015 not 2000). This amazed us, but a waitress came and sat us down and gave us a menu. We asked about the kitchen which she laughed off. We then sat at the table with no one taking any order or even acknowledging us until 2050, at which point the waitress came back over and then said the kitchen was closed (even though Food was being brought out).

The tables round us were all complaining as food hadn’t arrived/was cold/took ages.

I then spoke to the manager who was absolutely clueless and stated that even though we were late they left us for over 30 minutes. His answer “we close the Kitchen at 21:00 on a Sunday”, to which I pointed out The surely NYE was a exception. At this point the owner also got involved to no avail. It would Spiers the chef decides what he is doing and does not care about customers.

At this point we got an Indian takeaway from next door and ate it in saisaki much to the amusement of the tables round us, none of whom had anything good to say.

The owner was very embarrassed and offered us a free meal in the New Year, but this ruined our NYE and having emailed the restaurant over a week ago to try and rebook this complimentary meal, I have had no acknowledgement or response.

Such as shame as had been several times before, but unless the owner changes the management (he was useless) and gets better staff and attitude to customers it will always be let down by poor staff and service.

It has been many years since my wife and I have been so impressed by our first visit to a restaurant.
We had been a little confused - is it a restaurant, a club or a cocktail bar? The answer is it is a very very good restaurant that has a DJ a couple of evenings a week and some cocktails on the menu (although it has a very nice bar, and I am sure it is a great place to go just for drinks if that is your thing) We visited after work at 6.00 on a Wednesday evening and it was all about the food.
The soft shell crab was as good as previous reviewers have said. Even that was surpassed by the crispy coated, creamy, deep fried oysters - stunningly good! Other highlights were the substantial piece of wonderfully sticky grilled eel and a small portion of melt in the mouth pork belly in a delicious stock spiked with mustard (only three pieces but reasonable value as the cheapest main course. Don't get caught out - order an extra main!) Other dishes of noodles and dumplings were as good or better than we have had elsewhere.
Service? - Faultless and friendly (keeping in mind it was very quiet when we went) We were very impressed that we were offered tap water as soon as we were seated - it's these small touches that make all the difference.
Price/value? - Top score! Very reasonably priced wines meant that a substantial meal for two, with two bottles of wine (!), no dessert and before tip was £86.75 which is great value given the quality of the food (although we did not have any of the more expensive items on the menu.)
Atmosphere - obviously quiet when we were there, but a perfectly comfortable, modern and welcoming environment.
Epping needs this kind of restaurant to thrive so do yourself, and Epping, a favour; try it for yourself now - take along friends, family, work colleagues, and remember to leave a Tripadvisor review; this place deserves to be MUCH higher up!
