We visited for s planned family celebratory meal, 17 people including young children. The staff were incredible, they facilitated really well, due to such s large party they did ask for our food orders in advance, which we were expecting. The food was all fantastic, everyone really enjoyed the good and the service. The kids really enjoyed playing in the large garden, with big climbing frame, slide, Wendy house and ride on cars to play with. The final bit of kindness was from the kind member of staff who lent us jump leads when one of our cars wouldn't start. All in all a lovely day, fantastic experience and well recommended to anyone

We thought we would try our luck and nip in for some lunch as the restaurant seemed quiet. No wonder its the only pub in the area not fully booked with a waiting list on fathers day, was hoping we had found a new local and were looking forward to taking part in the weekly quiz night! After cleaning the old food off the menu so i could read it the menu looked good and the staff seemed pleasant and friendly, we ordered starters, mains and desserts but received over priced microwave meals! Absolutely disgusting won’t be coming back. Rude landlord and very dirty pub

Certainly not a “gastro pub”, but food ok basic pub grub, servers ok, but we both found the barmaid / order taker to be grumpy, not good if you are in the service industry. Have called in several times on journeys from the midlands to a contact in Botley. No more I’m afraid, there are more eating places on our route that are more welcoming.

We decided to have dinner and attend the quiz here on a Thursday. Staff were brilliant. Despite running out of rose wine, and Chardonnay, they managed to get a bottle for me anyway.

The food was much better quality than last time we ate here, lovely Hunters Chicken, tasty bacon, good sauce, juicy chicken, perfect chips, way too much cheese (I left half of the cheese, as did my daughter). Lasagne was great apart from the top which had to be removed because it was rock hard and inedible. The steak was good, unfortunately overcooked but tasty anyway. Nicely dressed salad.

The conservatory looked nice, not keen on the very sticky table and uncomfortable chairs, rather warm in there, no ventilation unfortunately. Very loud in there too, as a big open room with high ceiling, so conversation tricky.

Good service and very friendly staff helped the evening along.

The ladies loo was clean, shame there is only one cubicle though.

The quiz was fun, great humour from the man running it. He needs to be shown how to use a mic (no need to practically eat it), and watch out for Cheaters using Google :-(. Not sore losers, we came 4th but I did feel sorry for the team who played fairly and came 2nd.

No WiFi apart from if you were sat at the couple of tables by the bar, really?! A thick wall being the excuse for the rest of this place not having it. An easy fix but perhaps they're technophobes?

Beware of the group of smokers gathered around the entrance when you go in or leave, having tiny parasols which barely cover the tables they are over means smokers all hang around the entrance sat on tables, poor planning.

There was a couple of plates of bread and butter and about 4 crispy chips in a bowl and an bowl with one sausage left in it by the bar when I went to get more drinks. Not sure if this was for those taking part in the quiz, it certainly wasn't mentioned. Seems like those not taking part tucked in and demolished the lot. Would have been better to place the food near those in the quiz, there were a couple of empty tables near the quiz that would have been ideal.

The cute dog milling around the bar seemed to appreciate the last sausage I gave him, seemed only right to give it to him as there was four of us feeling hungry and no chips or anything left to go with it.

I'd eat here again if passing and hungry, but not going to bother with the quiz again. Rather uncomfortable and cheaters not appreciated.

Having driven past here a million times we decided to try The Fox and Hounds for lunch one sunny Monday in May.

We received a warm welcome and soon had a plate of food in front of us.

My scampi and chips was MASSIVE, hot and tasty.

All served in good time and with a smile.

Prices reasonable too.
