Arrrived to long queues to order food. On ordering told food would be 45 minutes. Came 1:15 minutes later and was stone cold. Appeared to be taking more orders than they could possibly fulfil. Would give it a miss. Shame as nice location.

Waited for 1hr 15minutes for a burger and when it finally arrived everything was cold. The service was crazy slow as they didn't seem that busy. Demanded a refund which I received. This pub is ok for drinks because of location. Food service/ quality is best avoided. If it wasn't near the sea it would of gone down the pan ages ago.

Location is this pub's selling point.

On. busy residential street in Hill Head, it's set on several floors on the cliff edge.

Despite being warm and sunny outside the garden area (with blue plastic picnic tables made of recycled plastic bottles) was only a quarter full whilst inside was rammed.

Fish and chips 7/10, chicken and tarragon sauce 4/10 both £12.95. Hall and Woodhouse ales 7/10.

Good location with access to the beach. Very dog friendly with a special dog area, doggie treats as well, very welcoming for dog owners which was important as this was the first time we had been out with our puppy (our first dog as well). Free car park across the road. Reasonable food at reasonable prices, my wife particularly liked the wine she had. In summary food was ok, the overall experience was good.

Me and my family stopped here for a quick drink on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm, which understandably was very busy with a line waiting for tables.
We found a sign leading us to the garden, which is amazing. You have to walk pretty much all through the restaurant and down two flights of stairs to the decking with nice chairs and tables. Then you have a grass area with plenty of benches and tables right next to the sea front! (With steps to access the beach)

The Bar in the garden doesn't stock a lot, and doesn't serve coffee. So your better off getting a drink from the bar inside the pub before you walk down to the garden.

We liked it so much me and my partner came later for dinner about 4pm, by this time all the roast had gone which was a shame. But the place was a lot quieter, and the service was really good.

The stake and stilton pie was amazing, and the mash was really nice and creamy. All hot and well presented.

The pub is very nicely decorated, with signs and amusing quotes all over the place.

My only gripe was that earlier in the day, the hot drinks were just about warm.

Would highly recommend this pub.
