On arrival we were told in reception that we would not be able to get an evening meal despite having paid for it in advance. This as it happens was incorrect . As was the other information given to us by reception that we couldn’t turn the heating or the heated towel rail off, which was painfully hot to touch. I worked out the heating fairly quickly but not the dangerously hot towel rail. So unfortunately because of this incorrect information we didn’t sleep very well in an overheated room. I eventually found the switch to turn the heated towel off the next morning in the cupboard with the ironing board. I can only assume that the hotels electricity bill is astronomical . Apart from this one individual in reception the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and pleasantly furnished. The grounds and surrounding countryside lovely. The external of the building very Victorian. More
