It's a nice looking pub with good décor. They also keep the beer well. However the food was really disappointing and not good value for money. The lamb shank was bland, with a general purpose gravy, a big bed of bland mashed potato and a minimal quantity of veg - about three beans, five small chips of carrot and a few very small broccoli florets. Pan seared salmon sat on a bed of oily linguini with a tasteless sauce. Even the leeks were bland. Maybe the chef had a bad day! Also beware the 10% service charge - I don't recall it from the menu and it wasn't drawn to my attention when paying.

Everything was great.
I do like to take my family to good establishments to enjoy nice things when we can afford it.
On this special occasion we were really treated to one of the best Country Pub’s in our experience.

Had one meal for our family visit of 8 people, service level very high, good waiter, lovely surroundings and interesting menu ,every one enjoyed the experience. The only down side i felt they needed to improve the fish batter cooking mine was to soft and almost under cooked. But that was a picky note to an otherwise lovely evening.

We booked this restaurant for a small, post wedding lunch with our elderly nan who could sadly not make the trip to our wedding.
We had not personally been to The Deer's Hut before, but on high recommendations from family, we booked the private dining area, and we are so glad we did.
The restaurant is really cosy and well decorated, and all the staff really friendly and helpful. They had even decorated our table for us with balloons, which was incredibly kind.
Our table was at the end of the restaurant, which was easily accessible through a side door, which was very appreciated as I didn't have to walk past tables of other diners in my dress.
The food was all exceptional, freshly cooked and generous portions.
We will definitely be back as we had such a lovely time.
It's so hard to find such a welcoming, warm restaurant these days, but the Deer's Hut ticks every box..
