We kicked off a long weekend break away with lunch at this gem in the New Forest.

Excellent and friendly service was matched by a fabulously prepared meal which included gravad lax, seafood salad, lamb with crispy bits, turbot and venison with blueberries.

The goats cheese to start was the standout for me and the wine selection was excellent.

The prices are London-ish but in this diner's opinion definitely worth it.

Would highly recommend a diversion.

We had a long weekend stay here and enjoyed ourselves. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, the food on the evening we ate in the restaurant was beautifully cooked and presented. The room we stayed in, Mimosa, was quiet and spacious, if a little shadowed. Breakfasts were of a good standard, with very crunchy toast.

We came here for lunch a few Sundays ago with high hopes based on previous reviews, however we felt a little underwhelmed. Perhaps we visited on an off day, but we weren’t really welcomed as such, more sat in the lobby / bar area wondering what was going to happen. At the table the hosting was mixed, some staff members seemed happier than others to be there.
The food was well-presented and tasty, however at almost £30 per main it didn’t really live up to its price so we will likely go somewhere with a bit better atmosphere for posh nosh in the New Forest in future

There's a lot going for this place. Perfect location, great grounds, large rooms and ample parking.
What lets it down is the lack of attention to simple things such as ensuring the room is cleaned properly. Finding stains, albeit small, on bed linen and a pair of socks from the prior occupant doesn't suggest a proper clean and check. The bathroom in general needed a more thorough clean. The room was a good size, with the usual tea and coffee. Suggest you do include decaffeinated tea as standard.
Breakfast was really not good. This is the first place we have experienced where continental breakfast, including cereal, is served rather than as a buffet. Coffee and tea were dreadful and the toast like concrete. So bad that we went a few minutes up the road for breakfast. Farm shop was perfect and full of happy customers.
All of this was fed back the owner. The response was defensive and simply rebutted with a 'no one else has complained' Curious to know if the coffee was checked. 'I don't like coffee' was the response. Much is made of the restaurant and a past Michelin star chef. Either focus on this and get experienced staff to run the chalets or act on feedback when given in good faith and with genuine best intention. We will return to the New Forest but will not stay here again. It's expensive for what you get when compared to pretty much every other place we have stayed at. Rates are broadly similar but the customer service received is below par. Did contemplate a poor rating but that would be harsh. Average is pretty much it. We noticed that we are not the first to give this feedback. I expect the response to be in the same vein.

My wife and I have just stayed in the Mimosa Lodge for a two day midweek break with dinner. Having stayed before we knew what to expect and were not disappointed.
The room was delightful with french doors looking out onto the gardens and a very comfy bed.
The food was delicious, well cooked and presented perfectly.
