Nothing was too much trouble. Left my phone charger behind and they kindly forwarded it on. Thank you Jordan, you're a star. Breakfast on the balcony was prompt and delightful. Room was first class and spacious.

Room Tip: Worth going for the balcony rooms if you can bear the cost.

Went down for football and catch up with family. Football was cancelled but didn't stop a thoroughly enjoyable weekend in this beautiful historic hotel. Food was fab and staff were friendly and fun.view from balcony out over very rough seas were stunning. Will return to see it in the sunshine.

We often visit The Royal because of its great location on the beach. The coffee is good and the food can be excellent value. The majority of the staff provide great service but there are a handful for whom customers are low priority and who are more interested in routine tasks and/ or chattering to their friends. Management may be the real issue as things obviously improve when certain senior managers are visible.

We were lucky enough to stay in the Nelson suite, a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the sea, and a roll top bath in front of the window also overlooking the beach. The room was comfy and well equipped. If I had to criticise the bathroom was quite small and seemed a bit like a shed from the inside. The shower screen was ineffective and the bathroom floor was quite wet after a shower.
Breakfast was good and with friendly service.
The only time we ate dinner in the hotel the kitchen was clearly over-run. While the food was good when it came, and the staff were profusely apologetic, the wait was much too long and rather spoilt the occasion.

Hungry and very wet but needing food. The terrace of the hotel provided everything we needed, great food, good local beer and very friendly staff. Whether you have lamb chops, fresh battered cod or the ham, eggs and chips you will be given a plate covered in freshly cooked very good food. The local beer washed it down a treat.
