If you're not bothered about frills, and want the station to be handy, this is a good choice. Our room wasn't lovely and there was no bedside lighting, which is a thing I like. Everything was perfectly clean but the bathroom was definitely showing its age. Given that not many people were staying, I have to assume the other rooms weren't much better, or at least not for £73 a night.
Staff were very friendly and helpful at this difficult time. Unfortunately I immediately forgot breakfast time as soon as they told me (7-9) and there was no information in the room, but they brought us tea and toast as a favour when we came down at 9.30. They don't do cooked breakfast anyway, not even for extra money.
We didn't eat dinner here, but the landlord extolled his good plain cooking (and tapas). We did have a pint and the Late Red was really well kept.
Overall, not ideal for a romantic weekend, but fine if you need a berth near the station. And good on them for opening safely - masks compulsory in all public areas standing up and one way system in operation.More
