Just fancied a night away before winter sets in and did we pick the right day! The weather was perfect for a night away with oysters and sea views.
Arrived at the Hotel Continental at 2.30 but couldn't check in until 3. Luke on reception very helpful. We parked in the free car park at the back and checked in after a stroll to the Harbour. The Hotel is situated on the sea front and having booked a sea facing room were treated to an amazing view out to sea. The room was nicely furnished and even had a pair of binoculars to peer out at the dog walkers, (never seen so many Cocker poodles in one place)! There was a bit of confusion over breakfast so we had ours around the corner cafe but lovely stay all in all.

Room tip: Get a sea facing room, even better with a balcony

We wanted to go there for breakfast, my Husband called to check what time they stopped serving and was told 9:30am. We arrived at 9:20am and stood waiting for service, no--one came! I went to the door and called hello, 3 times when eventually a lady came out and asked what she could help me with. I explained I would like breakfast for two. She said there is no more breakfast being served!!! I will add it was raining heavily outside so thank goodness for the Whitstable Beach Cafe!!!

We visited here for a night’s stay in July 2022.

Parking is free round the back but there are only a couple of spaces, but what isn’t obvious is that there is an overflow car park a street away.

When we turned up and asked the receptionist where we could park as the back car park was full, she said “out the front” which was pay and display and did not mention the overflow car park at all. After spending about £20 on overnight parking we learned about the overflow car park from a friend, which was annoying. We felt as if we hadn’t asked exactly the right question about parking and got an automatic answer without much thought going into it! There was also a similar feeling when trying to book breakfast.

The rooms however were nice and spacious and breakfast staff were friendly.

Room tip: Overflow car park is next street along!

Lovely hotel in a great location. The decor and furnishings are modern and have a seasidey vibe about them. The room although small was spotless and well appointed with an ample terrace albeit not facing seaward.
However, I personally found the staff unsmiling and unwelcoming, unusual in a hotel of any description. No cheery good morning or even eye contact on passing reception. On departure, again no smile and no enquiry as to how I found my room and stay.

Room tip: Grab a parking spot at the hotel early doors, leave the car there and travel around by bus or train. The Whitstable wardens are fierce.

Lovely position especially if you opt for sea view. Friendly and efficient staff. Rooms very modern & simple with excellent facilities - there were even a pair of binoculars in the room. Food is good but the menu is a bit limited. Excellent breakfast ( not included ). Piano live music at weekends . Lovely bar looks out to sea with cosy sofas.

Room tip: Parking is available.
