We stayed here last weekend end with our ageing border terrier. It is an understatement to say this hotel is dog friendly, every courtesy is afforded by the staff to ensure we and our pet was looked after. The hotel has a fabulous terrace and garden at the rear of the hotel and parking. The room was very nice with all the usual facilities and was warm on what was a cold end of September weekend. We enjoyed the evening meal very much and the batter on the fish was very light and not greasy. Hubby said the Batemans beer he had was kept very well (we used to have a pub) and the breakfast the following morning although late (advertising for staff currently) was again of a very good. standard. My main observation was that the staff cared about what they did and about their guests which is the best praise I could give about any customer facing business.

We stayed at the Half Moon Hotel because we were Marshalling at the Cadwell Park Race Track. It was a good room with tea, coffee and biscuits laid on. We had a lovely breakfast made to your order. We also had evening meals which were presented well and delicious.

Visited here today as it is local, and not been here before. Also our 47th anniversary. Because of time commitments, arrived fairly early, and chose liver and bacon (me) and lasagne and chips (him). Both meals beautifully prepared and presented. Great taste. Desserts a bit disappointing, especially for the price and compare to the main meal price. With 2 drinks came to £29.80

Initial impressions might dissuade you from visiting this hotel however I would suggest that you don't judge the book by its cover.
The rooms are pleasant, the sheets are clean, the shower works, there are plenty of towels and the bed are more than adequate.

If you choose to eat in the hotel then you will find splendid meals, well cooked and good value. If you like fish and chips then you will certainly like it here; thin batter and very nice fish.
Finally, the staff are very helpful and friendly with nothing appearing to be too much trouble.

Having returned from our holiday I see the e-mail I had received showed that a table for four had been booked on the 10th August prior to meeting with relatives there. On the day it seems the manager was trying to make contact by mobile phone to say there was a party of 25 booked at the same time. Hence the delay for us along with the lack of customer service spoilt the day
. Why I ask did it take 10 days to get back to us.
