This pub lives up to its name lots of different dirty old bottles to look at. The food was ok but presentation was very poor looked like it had been thrown on old school baking trays disappointing

The staff are lovely, the decor is nice, the food was fine.. but the huge 'roasting tin" that my dinner was served in was so off-putting! I ate 3/4 of it because I was hungry but what an unattractive way to present food! When I mentioned it to staff they agreed that it divided customers..you know what doesn't divide customers? A bloody plate!

We've been in Northumberland for five days and it's been wonderful but the food is a bit samey (fried/ too much) and please stop with the slates /stupid random things...just use bloody plates!

Whilst passing the restaurant and looking in a window, which was filthy, I thought "we won't be going there" Of course the window has been sealed up for 200 years - please read tale behind that online. The inside is deceptively huge. The food was excellent - the steak done to perfection. The decor is old with a not too obvious recent makeover. Beer was good. Well done.

Very pretty decor in the bar and restaurant areas. Our table wasn’t quite ready so we were invited to wait in the bar until it was and by the time our drinks were ready so was our table.
Tasty food from a wide ranging menu, at a fair price. The smokehouse menu was particularly good value with 2 meats and 2 sides for £11.
Cocktails 2 for £10 between 5pm and 7pm every day.

Absolutely loved this place. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and HUGE portions of food.

We shared nachos to start with (the small portion was plenty for two of us). Then followed up with king prawn hanging skewers for me, whilst my husband and daughter both had the meat platters. All were freshly cooked and delicious. Great value for money too.

We were sitting right in front of the serving hatch and it was great to see the chefs smiling and singing away as they worked in the kitchen. The place has a really nice vibe.

We are back down again from Edinburgh in August and will definitely be back. We have eaten out most nights this week on our holiday and there have been plenty of gastropubs we visited that cost more than this and the food wasn’t nearly as good as the Dirty Bottles. Highly recommend
