Description: We are a traditional English country pub that nestles next to the river coquet in northumberland. Our food is a mix of bar and restaurant, and we try and source as much as possible from local suppliers.

Lovely friendly barman supplied a very warm welcome. Well planned menu with interesting choices. Comfy place for visitors to the area to dine that is obviously also popular with the locals. We were staying nearby and of the 3 restaurants we visited, this one was the best.

A proper pub lunch that's what i'm interested in and that's what you get. Each dinner has a choice of meats or in fact a bit of all, go for it.The staff are so friendly you get a well kept beer. The only down side is it tends to be a couple of pound more for a meal but it's well worth paying extra for quality.

We ate twice in the restaurant during our stay here. The beers were of limited range but were well kept. The Menu range is typical for a pub serving good quality food with some staples such as mixed grill, sausages and mash and some slightly more adventurous stuff.

My mixed grill was delicious and very substantial. The seafood platter was also delicious and offered a range of cold seafood and hot squid rings. The bangers and mash were simple but very tasty. Cathy's duck salad was generous but lacking a sparkle and another time she ate the lambs liver and bacon, which were very good.

The full English breakfasts were simple but generous and good quality.

The staff during our stay were some of the most consistently effective and friendly that I've experienced.

Booked 3 night B&B through Groupon for £129 and boy what an absolute gem of a place.

The room was clean, comfortable bed, large bathroom complete with excellent shower.

Breakfasts were first rate using local fresh produce.

We tried the restaurant for dinner and although a little concerned that it offered so much choice at the risk of quality, our fears were quickly put to rest. The food was so good we actually ate there all 3 evenings with something different each night and each dish was absolutely delicious

Our biggest mistake was the first evening, we ordered starters and they were almost a meal in themselves hence only managing half our main course.

Although the desserts looked mouthwatering, the main course beat us each time, perhaps next time!

On the last evening I attempted the mix grill and I must say it was one of the best I have ever tasted. The steak, lamb, chicken and sausages were real quality meats and cooked to perfection.

Throughout our stay all the staff were really friendly and efficient and nothing was any trouble for them.

The stay there simply made our holiday and we will certainly be going back.

Cannot praise them enough
