We were planning to just do a leisurely walk around Dove Lake, but ventured across the detour via Hanson's Peak. It's considered Advanced and involves a lot of steep steps, as well as climbing on rocks and a part that goes up and then later down via metal chains, that you need to pull yourself up the rocks. But, for the athletic, it is definitely worth the effort. The view from 1100m Hanson's Peak is amazing, and superior to that at ground level. The whole round trip Dove Lake, then detour via Hanson's Peak, then back onto Dove Lake Circuit took us 5 hours. So it's good for people who do not have enough time to go to the Summit but want to see Dove Lake from high up. Going up to Hanson's Peak is definitely the highlight of the trip and was really fun!
