Hotel Lakeside was built in the late 1800's but it is still just as popular today as it was back then, with considerably more human comforts like air-conditioning and elevators. This is a historic hotel, decorated in keeping with its history. (Translation - you could find a huge furniture piece in a corner of the room that takes the place of a closet.)
Each room is unique with different views and different furniture. Every room is tastefully decorated. The website gives adequate descriptions of each and the price varies accordingly. Prices are good for a prime vacation destination like Lakeside. Most rooms have private baths but not all. Again, check the website carefully to see if your room has a full or half bath.
The staff is wonderfully helpful and friendly. The public areas are large and comfortable. A huge screened in porch is great for relaxing and watching the lakefront.
Caution - there is an "Important Note" on the reservation page. Pay attention to it. In addition to your room rate, you will be required to pay admission to get into the Lakeside Chautauqua community. For a couple with a car, that will add about $50 per day. Parking is limited at the hotel, so arriving early is a good idea if you want to park close.
