Our daughter and her family live in Lakewood and we visit several times a year. When we do, a "must visit" is the Blackbird Bakery. The bread, pastries and cookies are the best - as good as anything we have eaten in France or Austria! I always buy an epi for my grandsons - they like to tear a small piece off and eat it on the spot! An epi provides maximum crust per piece of bread and they love the crunch. I like the raspberry croissants and my wife likes the sticky buns. Everything is fresh and delicious!

The staff is always friendly and helpful - that is appreciated by "out of towners".

The bakery serves coffee and has a large room with tables and chairs where folks can casually enjoy a pastry and coffee. There is a picnic table outside that is popular in warm weather!

Parking is not a problem, the Blackbird has a large parking lot which is convenient.

Hope you enjoy the Blackbird a much as we do!

Our visit added just 5 minutes drive time (to and from the interstate) to our trip. If you're a bread aficionado, you'd be crazy not to take the detour. Stopped in for some fresh java and croissants. Went back for seconds before leaving. We left with a baguette, a seeded epi, and a ciabatta with us. All 3 were still hot from the ovens. Now that's the pinnacle of freshness!

My ciabatta roll was so hard that it was difficult to eat. The cranberry scone was way too sweet. This place was packed when we stopped in for breakfast, but I don't understand why.

Blackbird Baking Company is a local gem. The location on the very western edge of Lakewood, next to downtown Rocky River and a Cleveland Metroparks & Marina entrance makes it a convenient stop.

All sorts of wonderful, fresh breads made daily, always an interesting focaccia or two available (the spicy potato / feta is lovely!) and a standard set of consistently delicious cookies and flavored croissants. I really enjoy the espresso chocolate cookie and the giant lemon thumb print. The little galette are delicious and there always seems to be a new seasonal variety (the corn poblano this last visit was great!)

Full service coffee bar is a nice touch. Plenty of seating indoors, some picnic tables outside. The place is always bustling and is family friendly with a few games available for the kiddos!

Seems to be ample parking in the adjacent lot. We tend to walk here from home, so no idea if the lot is dedicated.

Definitely worth stopping in for a snack and refreshment if you are out and about on a pretty summer day!

This busy spot bakes up some delicious treat. Great selections of tasty, sliced to order breads. We have been twice now and they seem to focus more on savory baking and less on sweet gooey cupcakes or cinnamon rolls. Perhaps these items sell out early? We never seem to get there before noon. There is a large seating area with lots of windows that is very pleasant.
