We stayed in Love Bug 6. At first it seemed a little austere but by the end of our first day we determined it had everything we needed and was very clean. It was very pleasant to sit in the jacuzzi and enjoy the view of the secluded scenery. The setting is beautiful, we sat out on the deck in the woods every morning just enjoying the peace and quiet and the birds. Very convenient to the Hocking Hills State Park trails. A comfortable place to return to after hiking.

We just left Hocking Hills Resort today and were mostly pleased with our experience. The cabin and furnishings were clean...just a bit dated. Check-in was a breeze. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. They even let us check out late as we were also attending a wedding on premises and had nowhere to keep our dog until we left. We greatly appreciated their help. The bed was super comfy. The jacuzzi tub was also fun.

Two main issues we experienced. The floor is caving in Love Bug #3. When you sit on the toilet, you're sitting on a slope to the right. Not too comfortable. The tile in the bathroom has actually separated from the wall and you can see right under to the subfloor.

Also, the road to get to the resort is in desperate need of paving. The dirt/stone road just isn't cutting it. Traction gave out on numerous occasions. Made my wife VERY nervous and for that reason alone we probably won't come back to this location.

We've paid about the same money for much more easily accessed cabins in Gatlinburg that were much better updated and maintained. I give this place a solid 3.

Room Tip: Perhaps the bigger cabins are better?

Thank you for your comments about your stay at Ash Cave Cabins (at Hocking Hills Resort). The maintenance issues are being addressed. The recent heavy rainstorms did some structural damage and Love Bug 3 is definitely on our To-Do list. The drive up our rugged hill is, indeed, an experience that will make the more tender souls flinch. As one recent guest stated, it is part of the adventure! Sorry your stay was disappointing. I hope you enjoy your next trip to Hocking Hills.

After reading some of the recent reviews, I was concerned about our 3 night reservation at Love Bug 1. While it is not a ritzy hotel with fluffy towels and a million TV stations, it IS a cozy, clean, neat cabin for two with some added amenities like a huge bathroom with lots of windows even in the ceiling that makes taking a shower like a commune with nature. Cool! It also has a chiminea that we enjoyed on two nights (along with some wine, cheese, and crackers.) The owners are trying to address things that need fixing and were friendly. The road up to the check-in is a bit rough, but we traveled a few dirt roads in the area that were more challenging. We were glad we had our truck.

Room Tip: We didn't see any of the other cabins, so I can't give any advice here. If plushy towels are your thing, you might want to bring your own. We thought the mattress was very comfortable.

My boyfriend and I rented a Love Bug cabin. It was absolutely beautiful and quaint. We had a beautiful view of the woods off the back deck, where we spent most of our time when we were at the cabin. Our cabin was so close to the trails that we walked to Ash Caves from our cabin, and then from Ash Caves hiked to Old Mans Cave. The trails were beautiful and we loved that they were so close to where we were staying. After a long day of hiking we relaxed in the Jacuzzi. We had a fantastic stay and loved the nature aspect. We are planning on going back for many years to come.

We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. Where are all the nature lovers? It is refreshing to host guests who appreciate the rugged beauty of Hocking Hills and don't require all the amenities that they left behind in the city. Simplicity and peace--that's what you get here. Looking forward to your next visit!

We should have known at the bottom of the drive! The road was washed out and rutted making it a difficult climb even for my 4 wheel drive vehicle. Check in was meager! Not very welcoming from the start. Stayed in Love Bug #1 for one night. There is nothing resort about this place! We weren't looking for much but this was underwhelming! First inside the door was an air freshener that was SO STRONG. I wondered what smelled that bad that they had to have that there? We put it outside immediately. Cabin had what we needed basically (a bed, a bathroom and a small kitchen (2 plates, 2spoons, 2cups...) but it was shabby with a weird smell. Rotten wood portions on the cabin that should have been repaired. Big empty propane tanks laying in the yard along with trash and big piles of brush. There is a small deck on the back with a chiminea that worked. We scrounged wood from the pile and did have a nice fire that night. There was no tv remote and the small tv had hardly any reception. The smoke detector was hanging open on the wall and the batteries were gone! Not very safe. Ate in the restaurant which advertises itself like a fine dining place with a changing menu. HAHA! We were the only patrons in the restaurant and the waitress came up and informed us that they were out of several things. It was only 6:00 pm and they were out of things? The food was mediocre and rather expensive for what it was. I can't recommend this place! We did notice when leaving that the place had a new name. Hopefully it will improve under new ownership but it has a long way to go.

Room Tip: Don't!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We take all comments seriously and have been carefully reviewing each of your complaints about your Love Bug stay. Although most visitors leave lovely comments in the cabin guest books, occasionally things go wrong and unfortunately your visit was one of those times. We are sorry for that. To respond to your comments: I totally agree about the synthetic air freshener that overwhelmed you upon your arrival. That will not happen again. The maintenance issues are being addressed. The propane tanks are the result of a change-over in suppliers and the first company not removing their tank. That, too, is being addressed. The smoke detector was an error that has been corrected. The Grouse Nest stands the test of time, with hundreds of regular customers who rave about the food and ambiance. You are of course entitled to your opinion. Maybe we could change your mind with your next visit? We would love the opportunity to try. For you and for everyone who visits us, we would like to offer a little hint: Please find a staff member and make your feelings known right away. We try hard to please but can't always do that if we are unaware of issues that detract from your enjoyment of our establishment. Till next time, peace and blessings.
