Overall this hotel is great! It was renovated completely and re-opened August of this year. Multiple write ups on the renovation mention the multi-million dollar improvement to the HVAC system. I hope they are getting a refund. The coolest that the room would get was 76. All of the rooms were extremely warm. An engineer came to the room and said this was due to the construction and a lot of air in the water lines for the cooling system. The management offered to move to another “cooler” room on a lower floor. It was 75 instead of 76. It didn’t appear as though anything was actively being done to remediate the issue. Hopefully this gets remediated as this really could be a nice property. Not being able to fall asleep due to being hot defeats the purpose of a relaxing hotel.

Room tip: Request a corner room with a view of the Maumee River. Rooms are larger and great view.

We spent 10 days in booming downtown Toledo. This hotel has been beautifully refurbished and has a new rooftop open air lounge/restaurant with magnificent view of the Maumee river. That said, the place has a severe case of chaos. Three times our room as not made up because "we thought you were checking out." That after 3 phone calls from the front desk asking when we were checking out. There wasn't enough wait staff at the rooftop facility and servers were standing around in the first floor restaurant with nothing to do but chat. With the exception of housekeeping, every staff person we met was friendly, welcoming and eager to serve

Room tip: Ask for a river view room. It's worth it.

Beautifully decorated hotel with lots of attention to detail. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great river views. Everything we needed was onsite. Huge, smart TVs, mini fridge, coffee, tea, and Aveda products in the room. Lots of sitting areas and a pool table in the lobby. Nice gym. Free shuttle. Ate breakfast and dinner at Brim House. Typical prices for a hotel restaurant and the menu had a nice variety of options. Did drinks and pizza at the rooftop bar, The Heights. Pizza was wonderful and only took 10 minutes. Only cons, that truly weren't a big deal for me: small bathroom and small closet.

A little disappointed in our overall experience especially after reading all the reviews on the marvelous renovations. The staff was polite and courteous. We requested a room with a view and were told all rooms had a view of the river. Not what I would call a view. You had to press your cheek to the window and look right to see a small bit of the river through the trees in the courtyard. The room was much smaller than any other Renaissance I have been to. It was lacking drawer space for our clothing so we kept everything in our suitcases. The bathrooms are not designed for couples or families. Only one person could be in there at a time. Even with only one person being in there it was almost impossible to move around because the toilet is right in the middle of the room between the shower and the sink. I was constantly backing into the toilet while trying to get ready. If you want to get to the shower you need to close the bathroom door to do so and if your sitting on the toilet you can literally stretch your legs out and have them outside the bathroom door in the hallway. The worst bathroom design ever. We did have dinner and breakfast at Brim House and it as extremely good with the staff being very accommodating and friendly. We did visit the rooftop lounge after a night out hoping to grab a quick bite before retiring but arrived five minutes before the kitchen closed and were told they could not get us anything. A little disappointing. The rest of our stay and experiences were pleasurable but the accommodations leave much to be desired.

Room tip: Request upper level room so the trees don't block whatever view if the river you might have

My family came here for a wedding party and EVERYTHING went wrong. The best way to describe it would be: Unprepared to Open. The design of the hotel was lovely but the bar ran out of beer, the restaurant ran out of ALL manner of foods (to include ketchup!), the dishes were dirty and they "ran out of clean dishes". HOW does that happen?!? By the end of our weekend, it became comical. To cap everything off, the service was INSANELY SLOW- we waited ages to get drinks, food, even to check in and out of our rooms. The last straw was when they charged $160 for the stay and when the guy behind the desk asked how our stay was and I told him honestly about how disappointing each and every thing was- ALL he said was "thank you for your honest feedback". No offer to discount anything or any apology made. We would NEVER stay there again and I would advise you to spend your money elsewhere.
