My mother and sisters and I decided to check out this museum on our last get-together in Oklahoma City. It's free to enter, but donations are welcome. The museum is self-guided and doesn't have a lot of explanatory signage, but it's a great train collection, with several places where you can step inside the cars to look around. Two of the cars also have other artifacts in them, including a lot of model trains.

Liked looking around at the 1930s to 1960s trains. Easy to walk areas, things for kids to see and touch.! Did not get to take train ride, but heard it good!

A wonderful collection of trains and train cars over the years with the history that goes along with all of them. Not to be missed if you are a train lover.

It's taken me several trips to OKC to finally ride the train due to its schedule. The volunteers are friendly and informative and love what the do. The museum is not very large but it has some interesting pieces in the collection restored or waiting for restoration including two 1800s era box cars. The only reason I didn't rate this a five is the train ride scheduling (four trips the fist and third weekends of the month during spring/summer.)

The Museum is actually in two parts.

First it is free to wander the grounds looking at all the railroad equipment, model trains, artifacts, and more. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday. Kids always love it, but so do adults remembering how travel used to be.
Second, it is an operating railroad. They run train trips 6 months of the year from April to October on the first and third Saturdays. Tickets are required and can be bought online or at the station. They also run special trains, the Easter Bunny Express, Halloween costumer trips, and of course Christmas with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Lastly for two weekends in the summer, they host Thomas The Tank Engine in a huge party like atmosphere. Rides with Thomas, story telling and reading, gifts shop in their 'hangar', food and drink, Mr. Conductor, and much much more!

Worth visiting regardless of age:)
