We went yesterday and had a blast! There was a caboose or two, several cars to look at, a gift shop (of course) and I took many many pictures!

I took my 7 yr old niece on a girls day out and we went to the OK Railway Museum. We rode the train, bought a couple items out of the gift shop and walked through several train cars. We went through a party train, a train with memorabilia in it and great information about the items that are from the first trains and we went into a train car that had several trains running on a train set that was totally amazing!! It was fun and interesting for both of us!

The train cars and exhibits here are well done and free to look at. You can go up and look inside some. The train model car is really cool to look at. The kids really enjoyed it.
The train ride for 2 kids and 2 adults was about 20 bucks. It took 40 minutes. The ride goes 10 minutes south with very little turning or scenery. By the time it gets going it has to begin stopping. The train turns around and goes 20 minutes north (10 of which you just road). Then it returns. While the train itself is cool to be on, the trip is very very boring and really needs revamped. Probably costly though.
At least it isn't expensive but imagine an hour long ride that traveled through the cool parts of okc and back.

Anyways, some things to know. There are a few rooms with AC. A few places to buy water and use restrooms. There is a gift shop and ticket area. There is a small play area for kids. Also you can begin to board 15 minutes before your train ticket time.

Thank you for your review! We run the train on the historic Missouri Kansas & Texas (KATY) line. Unfortunately a lot of the track was removed decades ago and we are limited to what remains.

We have visited many railroad museums. I got the feeling, talking to a number of volunteers, and reading the brochure about their planned expansion on land the now own, that this museum has the energy to grow and become a major railroad attraction. The volunteers seem confident and clear on their plans.

There is a good amount of old rolling stock to see now, HO model in a car, museum display car, various structures with a past. Most importantly, they have a 40 minute train ride pulled by an early '50's F9 diesel.. It runs twice a month first & middle Saturdays. Cars are air conditioned.

They soon plan to install a 100 foot turntable now on their property. Then a roundhouse to go with it. Go. It's good entertainment. Lots of kids on weekends.

Thank you for your kind review! I will pass it on to our volunteers. We could not do what we have done over the years without them and they are the ones moving us forward.

Several of the cars are open for you to board. There is a "barn" filled with railroad memorabilia. Definitely worth your time. The cars with a model trains set up and the "museum" was closed when we were there, because there was only one volunteer when we were there. If you want to see them call ahead and possibly they can make arrangements. They offer a short train trip for a price on certain Saturdays. Call for info and tickets. We were thrilled to see the inside of a caboose and learn its purpose.

Thank you for your review! Glad you had a good time. We are always working on getting more volunteers to be able to give the public the experience they expect and to have all areas like the display car and model train car open. We hope to see you again.
