We parked in the parking lot that was between the highway, it was definitely less busy, and all you have to do take a walkway under the road to the falls. Bring rain gear because you will get wet, and wear good shoes because you will want to walk at least up to the bridge.

Parking is never that bad, just a short walk to main area. The falls are awesome. You can head up a short hike to the bridge area or go all the way up, but has a few steep areas but not too bad for the average person. There are restrooms, food and drink and a gift shop.

Back in time trip to see the beautiful nature of the the falls. Bright sun and loads of people. The hike was easy and the water was beautiful. Loved the history the volunteers imparted and the maps and other literature. The public bathrooms were in order and stocked.

Hard not to have an "Oh wow" reaction on first seeing the 544 ft tall falls, just 30 min from downtown Portland. The drive there and back alone, into the Columbia River George area, is already a reason to make the trip by itself. You can go on I-84 or take a bit more time and exit at Troutdale and meander along the scenic highway carved into the rock and forest (so worth it). You can hike on a well marked trail to the top of the falls if you're a hiker type. Most us regular folk just go up to the concrete bridge, above the short falls. At the base of the falls a nearby lodge has bathrooms, a gift shop, information, and a missable restaurant.
