“Thanksgiving 2011”
Reviewed 7 December 2011

We spent a few days a the Waves in their La Colina Queen Studio room. The room was clean but musty smelling. We have previously stayed in other rooms that were better.

Room Tip: Stay in a room with a king bed, not in the La Colina Queen Studio rooms.

Thank you for joining us over your Thanksgiving holiday. I am sorry that the room had a musty odor but hopefully that disapated as the room warmed up. We were remiss in not opening and heating the room prior to your arrival and I am sure that the cold raining days of November didn't help. We are now checking this and adjusting the temperature in the rooms for all reservations. For future stays we have king beds in both or Flagship studio and Southwind studio units. I agree they are much nicer but space limits our use of kings in the La Colina building.

I was a little dismayed at the room compared to the cost. It seems this company has several names for it's properties. The ice machine was on another of thier properties.. I had to call the front desk to ask where it was, It happened to be raining heavily to go looking for the machine. There was nothing in the room to tell you where things were in the property. We saw finally the hotub as we were leaving..
The bathtub was plugged and you had to take a shower in ankle deep water. Stains on the carpet and the fridge handle was broken. Chairs were uncomfortable to sit in and the mattress needs changed as both sides roll to the middle. As someone else stated the blinds are hard to operate and do not expect a dark room to sleep in.
Postive side is it is right on the beach in the middle of town.
We really expected a nicer room for the price. We were there to celebrate our 25th anniversary and thought we would splurge.

Having stayed at the Waves on previous trips to Cannon Beach, without hesitation, we chose to stay at the Waves. We again were not dissappointed. We will be back. We found the room to be very clean and well kept, and the staff was very nice.

We absolutely love The Waves. The rooms are spacious and wonderfully equipped. It is great to have a window seat with a nice little dining table -- with that amazing view. It's so romantic to step out your back door/deck right on the ocean, or go out the front and you are just a block off all the shopping and restaurants. The staff was super friendly on both greeting and departure. We have always found our rooms to be very clean. We look forward to returning soon as possible.

Room Tip: We prefer upstairs for privacy. There's no need to close windows/blinds. But when you stay on...
