While you are out taking your stroll on 3rd street, swing by baker and see the cute back in time cafe they have next to knit shop, across the street from boermans, and very neat antique shop called (lol) 3rd time around.
The restaurant has frequent locals and TONS of homemade recipes, such as homemade sour dough bread, marionberry jam, granola French toast, country fried steak with homemade bacon flavored non-meat country gravy, and old time spuds(red potatoes baked then fried with nothing added had intended). Then if that doesn't convince you. Lunch is always a good choice, sometimes for me the best choice. They have daily soups made from scratch with real vegetables and real ingredients by an elegant chef who cares about his food. The burgers are delicious, the Hero is huge, and if you are feeling really frisky the Spruce Goose with all its beefy, oniony, mushroomy, cheesy, yummy goodness, definitely try it! Oh and I didn't even mention the hand cut fries or the big selection of salads they have with also homemade dressings.
They don't really have a dessert menu, but honestly it's kind of a good problem because the meals are so huge you can't really fit it, lol. By the way, they do offer a child's menu or an half order in most things if you ask. But personally they have fresh fruit so normally I am happy with that, they do charge a little extra but without a doubt worth it.
