We had reservations and were immediately seated upon arrival. We inquired about the corkage fee since we had read on line that if a bottle of wine is purchased from the restaurant you may bring a second bottle and the $25 corkage fee will be waived. Our waitress was quite young and bubbly, perky but knew nothing of the corkage fee. We asked to speak to someone else before ordering and he assured us that we were in fact correct. We ordered a bottle of wine and he quickly returned with the bottle. We started with the tuna tartar (recommended by our B&B owner/operator). It was delicious and the tuna was served as tiny cubes. The proscuitto, mozzarella and olives was absolutely delicious and perfect with the wine. The house salad was fresh and a huge serving. The escargot was served in profiteroles and were delicious. One couple ordered the prime rib for 2 and asked that the mushrooms be served on the side since one diner had an allergy. The meat was served in 6 pieces sitting firmly atop mushrooms. I ate the top two pieces that has the least amount of surface area touching the mushrooms and luckily I didn't have an allergic reaction. The meat was good as was the grilled broccoli and cauliflower which happens to be my favorite vegetables. Aother diner had the mushroom gnocchi and he raved about it, eating every bite. The dish of the evening was the duck breast on lentils and spinach. It was crispy on the ouside and a beautiul medium rare. It was melt in your mouth. We were all 4 in the mood for dessert but found none of the four offerings to be Tempting. Very bland and uninteresting. The tab was $243 without tip

We had the lovely experience of dining at Recipe for our 43rd anniversary. We are foodies in the hospitality industry with a chef in the family. Needless to say, we really understand a wonderful experience and this was one of them. From the glasses of sparkling, to the final bite if the Semi credo, Paul and his crew were spot on. Service was attentive but not hovering, the food was excellently prepared, played beautifully, and layers of flavor. We would especially recommend the Tuna Tartar as a starter. So fresh and perfectly flavored. The halibut with the slaw of radish and fennel was a treat for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Don't hesitate to visit this restaurant as it is well worth it.

We loved the wild rice polenta cake and the creamyy carrot soup! The salad was very nice composed of what we believe were local greens.

Having canceled our reservation because of so much food during our trip, we decided to take our chances and go anyway. First course, not ordered but brought by our waiter of house smoked trout was sublime and perfect with our bubbly! Our choice, the octupus, was not a success. However, next in our lineup was a perfectly cooked piece of halibut on top of a pea slaw — great and beautiful pairing. Then for dessert we had a Bittersweet Chocolate Terrine that was divine! I asked our wonderful waiter what he would recommend for an dessert wine and I savored his recommendation. This is a not to miss restaurant!

Recipe is in a quaint Victorian in downtown Newburg. We went early for lunch without a reservation. The place was full by the time we left so call ahead or make a reservation. It's popular. Recipe served wonderfully fresh ingredients in the salad, soup and sandwiches we had. Incredible breads! Not a huge menu ,but there's something for everyone. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. We enjoyed the food and ambience.
