The market near the water was a fun experience. There are many "treasures" to check out and lots of good food. The Thai food and falafel were the best we tried. Just nice to hang out on a nice day.

It was actually open Sat and Sun during our visit. Lots of crafts, t-shirts and food stands, located by the river. The Farmers Market is by PSU and that is where you will find the typical fresh produce, meats, etc. If you want great food, and especially local fruit and cheese, eat here!!! Open on Saturday. Not sure about other days of the week.
Cool Market in Portland, heaps of great food, local crafts and good people, worth a visit for sure. It gets really busy but its a breeze to walk around. Voodoo donuts is close, but good luck trying them, as the queues are massive. `
The Portland Saturday Market includes many different artisans and booths. We thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the rows and picked up several treasures worth carrying back in our luggage.
We arrived after 11am and it was rather busy but lots to see/buy/eat. A lot of vendors with a variety of items. The variety also helps give a sense of Portland for those visiting. A lot of food vendors so good if you are hungry but also close to many restaurants. A lot of great gift ideas and many impressive handmade items. Plan to spend sometime wandering around and enjoying.
I was disappointed with Saturday Market. It wasn't as big as I was expecting and had your standard wares of over priced jewelry, artist prints, and soaps and lotion. Don't get me wrong, there are some good items for purchase but it isn't any different from other outdoor Art Markets in other locals.
