PSU often gets a bad rap because it's a state college but the campus is lovely and being in the urban setting it's close to everything. Plenty of programs, many good instructors (some excellent), and overall the cost is less than many other schools on the west coast.

“Go Green”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

My visit to the University, was that I immediately fell in love with it. It's a beautiful campus, and is not like most college campuses you see everyday. It's a school all about the movement in forwarding into becoming sustainable. They have their own electric car charge station located on campus, how many colleges can say they have one? It's located on the free tri-met rail system, which is convenient for travelers because parking was a hassle! It's a place I recommend on visiting, especially if you have a prospective student, I can assure you they will fall in love with the campus as well!

Urban university. Nothing really outstanding. Attracts students who can't or don't want to get into the University of Oregon and Oregon State. Very hipster looking students and faculty. Some good graduate programs in science with Oregon Health Sciences University.

“Um... PSU is a university, not an attraction.”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

PSU has a lovely campus, but in terms of attractions it doesn't merit a visit. It's not particularly old and the buildings aren't particularly amazing, nor is there much if anything to do if you're not a student. PSU's large university sprawls out across some good and bad restaurants and not much else. Traffic is a nightmare during school hours, and parking is difficult to impossible with rigid and regular parking enforcement. Instead, hop on the free streetcar and walk the Park Blocks, stroll the waterfront, or head to the Pearl district and you'll have much more fun less than five minutes away.

“A safe haven when visiting downtown Portland”
Reviewed 27 January 2012

I love how comfortable PSU makes me feel when I am downtown. Its a safe place to park my car and get on the MAX to travel all over Portland. When there is no where else to go I end up back at my safe haven, meeting people and enjoying the beautiful campus.
