My friend and I booked a room on 8/9. We were hiking around Delaware Water Gap and needed a basic room after a long day of hiking. The air conditioning was blowing but not cooling a very hot, stuffy room. We waited 45 min. and asked the manager to check it out. Also, there was a large bug sitting on my bed. Maintenance went to the room and said that is as good as it gets and that bugs were normal in this area. We waited another hour and the room was still EXTREEMLY stuffy and warm and we asked to be moved. The manager said NO. He told us the air was checked out and no reason to move. He also said bugs are normal. I couldn't believe how awful they were being. I knew he was discriminating against me for being young. I asked my mom to call and she simply said she'd never heard of a hotel not moving guests that were unhappy unless the hotel was totally sold out. Of course, a Tuesday in East Stroudsburg is not sold out. Having a very hot room and a large bug on the bed is cause for moving!! He pretended to say of course and called back up to me and moved us. The 2nd room was much larger, clean and cool! It is just uncalled for to treat young adults like crap. We are polite and well mannered and just wanted a place to shower, rest, and sleep.
I would say that is just rude and if a guest isn't happy with the room, they should be moved. Shame on you for being 2 faced -
