We've stayed here a few times over the years as we have family in this area. This time we took up their Winter Special price which was great value for this quality of hotel. We actually prefer the standard rooms as they overlook the golf course, whereas the superior rooms are on the car park side. Room was very comfortable with everything we needed, and bathroom good. Our only issue was a group returning to their rooms at 2.30am (I believe there was a birthday function in the hotel that night) who were very loud and had no concept of other guests being asleep so woke us up with a start and no one could have slept through them. We have had this before here as the hotel is popular for parties.
Breakfast was good - we did go into the dining room only 10mins before breakfast was due to finish, and the hot food buffet was still loaded, but the pastries side was empty, so we felt we were only getting half our money's worth. Spoke to manager who explained that he could arrange for more pastries to be cooked but it would take 20mins and we didn't want to hang around that long. He therefore arranged for them to be brought to our room which did happen along with a pot of tea which was a very nice touch. They also credited us for one breakfast which was more than generous given the issue was resolved very satisfactorily.
We also ate lunch in their upstairs bar at the golf club end and the food was nice there. If you don't want the buffet breakfast its worth noting that the bar does bacon sarnies etc. We used the pool in the morning on the Monday and it was quite busy but lovely and warm for a relaxed swim. Sauna was out of action but steam room working as was Jacuzzi - although that was full of sand which was rather worrying!

Excellent rooms, everything very clean and tidy. The room was very overheated and there didn't appear to be any way of turning off the radiator or the presence of a thermostat. Sleeping under a sheet in midwinter made it seem like a Carribbean break!

Me and partner stayed at the abbey hotel for a weekend getaway whilst visiting family. It is a lovely hotel with spa facilities and a golf course. Just outside redditch and with Solihull and Birmingham within a few miles drive.
The hotel is nice and modern, and our room was lovely too, with a very large very comfortable bed - We slept wonderfully! We upgraded to one of the suites as a special treat! So had superb views over the golf course and lots of extra space and facilities. The only negative was that the bathroom was a little run down and in need of modernisation - it didn't feel as premium as the rest of the room. The sink was stained and kept blocking up too which was a little annoying, but no major inconvenience.
On arrival we were made aware of the fact that the heating was broken at this end of the hotel, but the staff had put a heater in our room well in advance to warm it up - so it was nice and toasty!
Breakfast and one evening meal was included in our package. We found the food to be relatively good, but I would say it was only average in quality and flavour. I think a lot of the food was pre-prepared as our courses arrived very quickly!
The staff were very friendly and always willing to help when asked, however I didn't feel the service was exceptional. If your expecting attentive service here, you just won't get it. My background is retail management so service is important to me, so in my opinion it felt like the staff were not given much training and guidance in going the extra mile for the customer. But like I said - they were very friendly and did their best to help.
We didn't get round to using the spa facilities unfortunately, so I can't comment on that.
All in all it was a very pleasant stay and exceptional value for the money.
