“They really are the best pasties!”

We have been visiting Cornwall for our summer camping trip for years & the highlight of the holiday is eating the local fayre. We have eaten many a pasty & cream tea, from across Cornwall but the very best is Philps in Hayle. They also have bakery shops in Camborne & Marazion.
Let's start with their pasties, they come in a range of sizes but their standard is enough to satisfy any adults hunger. The pastry is soft with crusty bite, but the best part is the filling, always well seasoned & filled with plenty of mince & veg. They are an absolute must have try. I would give them my highest recommendation!
The other delight is their cream tea packs, perfect for a day at the beach. Supplied with Roddas clotted cream & mini jars of strawberry jam, we have took to renaming the scones to Clouds of happiness, partly because they are so light & fluffy, but because they are delicious. There great for taking home to share with the family to because they stay fresh for days. It gives everyone an opportunity to experience a taste of Cornwall. A must do experience.
Long will we have Philps in Cornwall, for those that would like to experience the taste without the journey, you can buy on line through their website.

People use to rave about Philps but unfortunately their success has increased production whilst lowering standards. A Philps Pasty is nothing more than an average tourist Pasty, tastes ok but not great and average tourist Pasty sized, not like a proper Cornish one.

If you want a great Pasty and amongst the very best available then it's worth a trip to the 'Horse & Jockey' bakery in either Helston or Porthleven where you won't be disappointed. Philps need to take a leaf out of the 'Horse & Jockey' cookery book on how to make a proper Cornish pasty.

Popped into the bakery to grab a pasty for lunch on a rainy lunchtime. As usual the queue was out the door. Once at the front if the queue our family of 5 chose 4 premium steak pasties and a large sausage roll. We were not disappointed, the pasties were ham packed with chunky melt in the mouth steak with the right amount of potato and swede. Couldnt fault it, will definately be going back very soon.

Every time I have visited there's been a queue out of the door (it moves fast). If you want a flakey steak come early as they're sold out by midday due to popularity.

Don't go without having a pastie at Philp's the best in cornwall followed by a Mr B's. Both the best and both in Hayle
