I've never been treated so badly by restaurant staff before. I walked in and asked if they had an tables left, the waiter said "sure, for how many?" I said it was just me and his attitude immediately changed. His response was rude and condescending: "JUST one? I only have one table left, don't you want to do takeaway?" I said I'd prefer to sit down to enjoy the meal, and with a big eye roll he said "I guess I can put you on my big table" gesturing to a not-very-big table with three place settings. He continued on this way making me feel unwelcome and as though I was taking up valuable real estate in his restaurant. It was after 8pm on a Tuesday and there were plenty of other tables close to finishing. In the end he made me feel so bad for wanting to eat alone that I said I can just get takeaway if that's easier. His response was: "Yes. That would be a lot easier."
The food would have been quite good, but eating $40 sashimi from a plastic tray and tempura that was soggy from being in a plastic tub ruined it. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. It really shouldn't be so hard to treat customers with a bit of respect.
