Small friendly old fashioned museum. Docents eager to save Mauch Chunk/Jim Thorpe history which really enhanced our visit. A 20 minute video really sinks in the major details. A wise idea firstling upon arriving.

This is a nice non guided tour with a video explaining a lot of the history of the town. It's very inexpensive and the staff were more than helpful.

small museum but informative town info, enjoyed it, don't think kids would enjoy it though unless they are older and into learning about history

Very disappointed, Closed in winter during the week. Website says open weekdays in summer, so I am unsure if that is Only July-August. Trip advisor should be updated. A very nice woman (over the phone) gave me tons of information, and sent me to the information center at the railroad station! Many restaurants and shops are open in the winter

We visited the museum in February. Many of the other attractions, like the Packer Museum and Railroad Tour, were closed for the winter season. The museum was a great alternative! For a small fee, around $5 I think, we got to see a short movie on the history of the area, then got to walk around and see relics of the past. The lady on duty was very helpful in answering questions. There are books and other souvenirs available for purchase. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area!
