Stayed here for two nights while taking in one of Jim Thorpe's Olde Time Christmas weekends. The place is very secluded, which makes for a very peaceful time, while still close to all the attactions Jim Thorpe has to offer. Rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great - portions were perfect in size. The property also includes the owner's art studio where they create their stained glass creations. They are very eager to give you a tour and show off their works, which are very nice, although not our cup-of-tea. The tour got a little long winded, which was probably the only negative in the whole weekend. Don't let that deter you from staying here though, as the hundred positives outway my one negative. Would stay here again if the opportunity would present itself.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- We invite you and welcome you into our home. Become our guest. Nic and I designed and built Hill Home Forge, and for the last 15 years it has been our greatest pleasure to share it with you. Here you'll enjoy the peace and solitude of the surrounding forest. You can hike or bike nearby woodland trails including the famous Switchback trail. We’re very close to the historic district, but you’d never know by looking out your windows. Mauch Chunk Lake is our next door neighbor where you can go boating, fishing and swimming. We cook a full country breakfast including my world famous apple stuffed French toast. I’ve polished the recipe over time until I’ve got the perfect blend of granny smith apples, homemade bread and Vermont maple syrup. My eggs come from a local farm. Delicious ... more less
