We were very happy to find Oka in order to have a change of pace from the heavier US offerings we've been having on our road trip. It's a very stylishly and expensively fitted out place on Harrisburg Ave. We went for a Monday night dinner (when it seems quite a lot of Lancaster's better restaurants are closed)

Our meal was simple - salmon and tuna sashimi, natural oysters with a delicious citrusy vinaigrette' and a very tasty stir fry of beef with numerous vegetables and their "special sauce" accompanied by brown rice (craving healthy!!!!). Couldn't have been happier with their food.

Their bottled beer (including Heineken) came in at $3 each and they had a good range of wines by the glass at a very reasonable price. Another tick!

Their greeter left quite a lot to be desired in terms of customer focus - not especially friendly or interested - didn't look up from her phone to say goodnight either. Our waiter was lovely and friendly but not well trained. He brought our entree dish (Australian main course) before we had even finished with our appetisers (Australian entree).

Overall though I would strongly recommend Oka and would go back.

We weren't sure what to expect. We are not experts on sushi by any means. This restaurant has a very varied menu, and a decent wine and beer selection as well. The food was quite good, and we enjoyed the sushi choices, as we could get cooked "sushi." The wait staff was obliging, friendly, and made us happy to have tried this restaurant and willing to come back.

I visited this place with my family a couple of weeks ago and had to walk out. We came for lunch and were seated at an absolutely filthy booth. There was hair, edamame, dry rice, and crumbs of all kinds on the floor and some on the seats. The table was covered in watermarks and some debris as well. When we opened our menus, there were sauce stains dried up all over them. To top it off, there was no music playing in the dining room. Silence and filth. I stood up and alerted the hostess of the dirty booth and she moved us to another dirty booth. Before we sat, she noticed this one was dirty too and intrusively cleaned it with her behind in our faces. We placed an order deciding that although it was uncomfortable, we have had good experiences here before so we would give it a shot. We asked the server if we could have a half portion of a chicken and rice dish for our young son and the server checked with the manager who declined to reduce the portion and price to accommodate our child. That was the point that i said to cancel the order we got up and left hungry.

Best sushi I've ever had. Yet service lacking. Thus 3 stars.

We ordered the seared tuna for starter and it was perfect melt in your mouth. For main we had Oka Omakase, which lets the sushi chef choose. The sushi, sashimi, and rolls were well presented and succulent. At $50, it was enough for for two though I might do the $75 next time. That's a bit high for the ambience, very high for lack of service. Our waiter was a student from F&M across the street, he was obviously new, nervous, clueless, yet eager to please. He could tell us nothing about the menu, nothing about the chefs choices, nothing about portions. The owner and maitre'd stood nearby watching it all and chatting about girlfriends obnoxiously loud and yet didn't help even when waiter was clueless.

Worst was when they only accepted half our Groupon voucher. It was a $40 for 4 people but Groupon had said it was good for $40 worth of food. Owner said we were only 2 people so he only honored $20. Groupon had cost $24 so that was a loss.

Best sushi I've had in Lancaster if you're willing to pay and don't mind college kid waiters and unfriendly owner.

The wait staff is well trained and the food is delicious. The prices are reasonable for sushi and the lunch specials are fantastic.
