I did the Strip District Tour on a Friday afternoon and had a wonderful time. Our guide Cheryl was fantastic and was very informative and friendly. It was great to visit so many old school Pittsburgh places and taste some amazing food. Highly recommended if you want to get a feel for authentic Pittsburgh.

Thank Wayne M

We attended the Lawrenceville tour as a pre-holiday "girl's day". We are all local and have all been to Lawrenceville; however, the tour exposed us to many hidden gems! Also, our tour guide, Cheryl, was amazing. Throughout the tour, she provided fun facts about the neighborhood, local graffiti, architecture, restaurants, and history. We had a wonderful time and looking forward to booking our next tour!

We attended the tour with friends that were visiting Pittsburgh and wanted to learn more about the area.
We booked a Friday, Strip District tour and a Saturday, Brookline tour.
Although the tours were completely different, we learned so much about the history and the local businesses in the area.
The guides were engaging and knowledgeable and interacted well with the group.
The food tastings were diverse and we had more than enough to eat on both tours. Definitely do not eat a meal before the tour!
Favorites were Stamoolis in the Strip District and Pitaland and Las Palmas in Brookline.
Highly recommend, even if you're a native of Pittsburgh!

My partner and I took the Brookline tour. It included several "food" stops and only one was really noteworthy - Pitaland - and it was early in the tour. Interacting with the amazing Pitaland proprietor, hearing his personal history/story, getting a tour of the facility and enjoying fresh pita, humus and other great treats was the highlight. Unfortunately, it fell short after that. A visit to a mediocre bakery (no interaction or interesting food story there), followed by another mediocre bakery/biscotti shop (again no real interaction/food story), a mediocre coffeeshop (no interaction with owners or any discussion of coffee whatsoever; that was sad because we LOVE coffee), off to a bodega for super mediocre street tacos (no real interaction there either) and mediocre pizza (never met the owner, nobody came out from behind the counter.) no talk of pizza dough or anything. We also stopped at an old school barbershop, albeit interesting and nostalgic, but it had nothing to do with food. We had plenty to eat but there was only one establishment with some real food creds on this tour, and that was PitaLand (everybody should make a trip to this place!) Our guide was very pleasant and clearly had a passion for the neighborhood but (aside from PitaLand) this isn't a real foodie tour and we didn't feel it was worth the money.

Thank you for your comments. We're so glad to hear the Pitaland stop was enjoyable, the tour guide pleasant and passionate about Brookline, and the food tastings plentiful!

We're sorry you didn't enjoy the other local food specialties, or the neighborhood history that was shared with you.

Our mission is "connecting people to communities through food". Our tours are "a food tasting adventure and historic walking tour of Pittsburgh neighborhoods".

Of the tastings you mentioned, the burnt almond torte is a Pittsburgh specialty and a beloved cake locally and nationally.
The taco you tasted had been consistently rated as one of city of Pittsburgh's best tacos by various social media sites and blogs.
Again, we are sorry you didn't enjoy these tastings. And that you're experience was not consistent with the majority of our tour guests.

To address your comment about the business owners that did not speak to you while on the tour. As with all of our tours, some business owners and managers are not always available, or in some cases not comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Instead, they welcome the tours by accommodating our groups week after week, and allowing our tour guides to speak for their business. We consider it an honor to be allowed to represent and speak for these establishments on their behalf.

We thank you again for your feedback and will continue to do our very best to highlight Pittsburgh's neighborhoods through its diverse history and food.
