Good Breakfast

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 9 Dec 2019via mobile
They gave me eat my breakfast early everyday. It was very nice of them, because I had live before the official breakfast time start. The stuff go above and beyond to serve customers. The food was good and they always have coffee and limonade. Sometimes they also have Otis Spunkmeyer cookies.

Winter road conditions--ice, sleet, foolish drivers--led us to make an unexpected overnight stop in the middle of a four-hour drive. We had two rooms, both clean and comfortable. The staff members we interacted with were very nice and helpful.

There were a few brief power flickers the next morning, enough to disturb the room clocks and the pancake maker in the breakfast room. Maria, the person staffing the complimentary breakfast, not only attended promptly to restarting the pancake maker, but offered to bring me a plate of pancakes when it was ready. When the power went out again, shutting down the elevators, two other staffers helped us get down the unlit stairway with our luggage. A third person stood by to open the automatic door for us. The parking lot was cleared of snow.

The trip was much longer than expected and fairly stressful, but the staff at the Holiday Inn made it much less unpleasant than it could have been.

This is a mixed review so I'll break it down with the very good, not so good/the worst of it...

The very good - Easy check in & check out. Extremely nice staff, especially the breakfast crew! We had 2 ladies (one I believe named Maria) that were running around the floor during b'fast checking on things, refilling as needed. Maria greeted everyone each morning with - Good morning, how are you you? She stopped by the tables to check on the guests & both ladies were making sure everything was well stocked & not in need of a refill. The b'fast itself was okay. They have a decent selection to choose from. I wasn't crazy about the pre-made omelets though & I love a good egg b'fast while vacationing. One morning they had scrambled eggs as an option & I wished they had offered that as an option each morning because they tasted a little better. In any case, there's a good variety of b'fast items so should not be an issue.
Also, fresh hot coffee in the dining area around the clock! Yippee!!
*Just be certain to leave a tip for the b'fast crew as these people work their butts off to make sure the guests are having a great start to the day!

The hotel itself/our room was very clean & spacious. Comfy bed. Bathroom had a large counter (big plus for us ladies who bring just about everything with). Nice shower head, hot water & decent water pressure also a big plus! Wifi no probs. Entrance from parking area remained locked so that made us feel at ease.

The not so good/the worst of it - We were in one of the hot tub rooms. I'm thinking rooms 202, 302 & 402. There are probably more but we were in this line of rooms. First off, the alarm clock did not work. We needed to get an early start one morn & the clock never rang! Thankfully, I did use my cell as a backup but I normally turn off at nite & it only works if kept on (in case anyone was wondering)...
There was no info at all on the TV. No idea what channel we were switching to & no info button at all. That was a little annoying.
Front door was a struggle to open. I read another review that mentioned the same problem with the door sticking.
Parking, for the most part, was okay except for one rainy eve we went out for dinner & upon return we found the parking lot to be nearly all full. So, that could be something to keep in mind.

The bathroom - BIG issues here: Extremely slippery bathtub. They really should look into putting something better down to prevent slippage in the bathtub before someone has an accident. I was completely fearful of slipping on my ass each time I showered. There isn't even anything to hold on to in the bathtub... Not good.
The toilet appears to be very low-flow so maybe provide a plunger per room just in case... Bathroom has next to no ventilation either.

The overall worst part of our stay though, not sure if this is something to do with the hot tub rooms (?) but there was some crazy annoying loud vibration that went on & on & on for hours & hours & hours! It became quite maddening after a while but I did read a review before we booked mentioning something about this. I guess I didn't realize it was a hot tub room. No, I never bothered reporting it to the staff. We just rode it out & by the end of our stay, my husband & I agreed that due to this terrible, near constant, loud vibrating noise, we doubt we would be able to stay at this particular hotel if we return to the area again. Which is a shame because we did kinda liked the hotel overall. We had stayed twice at another area hotel in the past & this one is way cleaner & the staff here is way nicer & much more helpful! So that kinda sucks...

Very busy weekend in the Stroudsburg area, no hotels available in the area. I called and they had one last room. How lucky we were...This place was the best. Cannot say enough good things about the quality of the rooms and the staff...a special shout out to Aida a front desk associate...she was great.

This hotel and the staff couldn't have been more perfect. I always expect a very clean and comfortable room and this did not disappoint. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the space larger than expected with a small kitchenette and couch. The breakfast was better than average for your typical complimentary breakfast with offerings of some healthy options: greek yogurt, hard boiled eggs, veggie sausage, egg white and veggie omelettes along with the typical items.
What put this over the top for us was the staff - especially Aida and Bob who were extremely kind and helpful. We were in town for several days for a family funeral and we received an EXCELLENT bereavement rate - even over a holiday long weekend. (just about half of the advertised internet rate). There was a room available to gather with family should we need it, they offered us a " goody bag" because the pool was being renovated (that didn't matter to us), offered us waters after our long drive. Cookies and ice water dispensers are available in the lobby. Personal service and extreme kindness. We highly recommend this hotel which is conveniently located off route 80 and we will certainly stay her again when we are in the area.

A broken down vehicle brought us here, so it is fair to say that we weren't in the same mind set as when on vacation. First off, this hotel has easy access from I80. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and everyone we came in contact with was accommodating and genuinely friendly.

What put this location over the top was Tatyanna (manager), Aida, Victoria, Steve and Seth. We stayed three days (so far) while trying to find someone to repair our vehicle. Manager Tatyana, with the assistance of Aida and Victoria, eagerly presented ways to help ease our stressful situation. They found room promotions we were entitled to. They searched and printed repair shops in the area, and they offered basic toiletries since we hadn't planned on an overnight trip. Steve (the maintenance person) not only loaned us a wrench and a few other tools, he assisted my husband as my husband attempted to repair the truck, and then offered information about the places nearby that could possibly help. Unfortunately on a Saturday night, there isn't much that could be done. Nor on Sundays. With the daylight savings time change, I lost track of time for breakfast, but Seth generously arranged it so that I could have breakfast anyway while he cleaned and closed down.

Now, it's Monday and the truck is with the dealer. We're waiting and hoping it will be fixed today. As I titled this review "It doesn't get better than this", it's true. We were treated as though we were part of the 'family'. Everyone went way beyond what would be expected! I'd like to think that WE were special, but I watched how they treated other guests, and it was the same. People were greeted when they came in, and wished well as they left. It was a positive, warm environment all around and honestly, we don't always see that...right?

I will make it a point to stay here in the future when in the area. I will also recommend it highly to people I know.

Thank you guys! Thank you for your hospitality, your smiles and most of all, your genuine kindness.

Room tip: Close to major shopping and restaurants.
