My husband and I enjoyed a weekend in a sumptuous Terrace King room at the Ocean House and it was perfection from beginning to end. We were greeted by the wonderful Daniel James "DJ" who provided a brief tour before we sat for our first meal. Since our room was not ready yet, we enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the bar complete with champagne from a beautifully curated wine list, delicious lobster and fish & chips and all the while, Amy behind the bar kept us charmed and entertained.

Before we checked into our room, I took the historical tour of the house, which was fascinating and then we rounded out our afternoon with the spirited Spirits 101 class led by Kyle and enjoyed with a handful of other guest.

On the way to our room were were provided insight on the clever artwork throughout the building. Which added to the Relais & Chateaux feel of the property. I room was plush, comfortable and well adorned. I had the best night sleep of my life and it pained me to leave. But we had to leave, dinner at COAST was on the agenda.

COAST offers picture perfect views and an elevated dining experience that could rival some of the best in New York City. Alex was our guide through our multi-course tasting menu and more champagne. The evening was pure bliss and we are still enjoying the truffles at home - 4 days later.

Before we headed home, we enjoyed Sunday brunch with our friends. We almost tried everything on the menu and they pineapple upside down pancake is worth splitting for a delectable treat.

DJ and Corrine, the Director of Rooms, stopped by to say hello before we checked out and our smiles have been beaming ever since.

Thank you to everyone who made our stay so special. We look forward to returning soon.

Hotel is beautiful and room was very nice, some employees seem very accomodating, others are lacking. Restaurant service was a tad below average, food was good. No doubt it’s a beautiful place, would recommend planning dinner and activities elsewhere.

We have celebrated every wedding anniversary at the Ocean House (OH). This was our 5th visit and we were absolutely crushed it was a disappointment. We arrived around 1 PM to check-in and were told our room was not available until 4 PM. Really? In previous years, when we have checked in around 1 PM our room was always ready so we could settle in, shower, and dress for an elegant evening at their restaurant. However (coincidentaly), this year we had accepted an invite from old friends to meet them in Mystic for dinner and therefore had no dinner reservations on the OH premises. I'm not sure if it really was a coincidence -- but for a 5-star "Relais-Chateaux" hotel that prides itself in excellent customer service -- its seemed to us OH wasn't in much of a hurry to clean our room considering we didn't have dinner reservations at their restaurant to shower and dress for. We considered it an isolated ker-fuffel, until the next morning when we called the front desk to request a 1 PM check-out. Following a nice brunch at 10 AM (although, to our surprise the OH brunch reservation we made in September 2017 did not afford us a table with a view) we called the front desk to ask for a 1 PM check-out. The clerk was very happy to oblige. That was until she called back a minute later and said OH could not accommodate the request ... we had until 12:30 PM. Really?

We are not wealthy people (my husband is a public servant). But spending $748.63 for one (1) night in a lumpy Queen bed + Sunday Brunch for two is an extravagance we look forward to ("think" Sears Christmas catalog) once a year. On the drive home we agreed the Ocean House service and amenities fell short (very short) this visit. It is unlikely we will return.

Room Tip: All rooms are nicely appointed. Beds (queen & king) are a bit hard though.

I work in the general area and was given a gift certificate for the Ocean House. I spend a fair amount of time (lucky me) going to nice spas and would include the spa at the Ocean House as up being up there with the Spa at Kiashaa, the Homestead and other interested lasts.

Believe all the wonderful comments you read. It truly does not get any better than the Ocean House. I honestly cannot think of one single thing that could be improved upon, they have thought of everything. This property is the yard stick to be measured by!
