Andrew Pinckney Inn is a beautiful, well restored inn located in the heart of downtown Charleston. The location is perfect for downtown activities such as the market, carriage toys, dining, & shopping.
The beds are very comfortable & the rooms have larger flat panel tv's. The breakfast was great, & is probably the best hotel Bfast I have ever tried! The top floor has an outdoor terrace that is great to sit and relax. The only thing we didn't like about inn was that the hallways were very busy at night & we could hear people walking & talking regularly. Don't stay in a room near the elevator or stairs because you will hear some of the hallway noise. I also heard another guest make this same comment. Overall, I would definately stay at this place again, but would be more careful about the room I stay in.

Stayed: February 2012

My mother, sister, & I chose Andrew Pinckney Inn for our first trip to Charleston. We stayed in room 118 in the building housing the main lobby. The room had plenty of space for the 3 of us with very comfortable beds, 2 easy chairs, & a roomy bathroom. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace of the building across the street was just right for us. Coffee, hot tea, lemonade, & ice water is available in the main lobby throughout the day. The location of the inn is perfect for enjoying all of Charleston's sights & activities.
The thing that put Andrew Pinckney Inn over the top for us was the Guest Services staff. Kristen helped us by email with advance dinner reservations. Edward & Sandy were always available at the desk with recommendations, answers to our questions, help with reservations, an offer of umbrellas, & friendly greetings of "How was it?" after each of our outings. We felt as if we were visiting the home of friends who wanted to be sure we enjoyed their city. Sandy even sent us off with big hugs on our departure!
Return trips to Charleston or recommendations to friends will always include Andrew Pinckney Inn.

We stayed at the Andrew Pickney Inn as a deal on "SniqueAway" for a very affordable rate the last week in February. We were there for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Inn is a cluster of 3 historic buildings 2 short blocks from the middle of Market street in the heart of the histroic district and a short few block from the water. Everything about the rooms is upscale and period decor as well as lovely thick towels, spa quality toiletries and the best bed I have slept on in a long time. The sheets were silky and soft and there was a down coverlet on the bed. The desk staff was great! They were knowledgable, helpful, accomodating and friendly. Breakfast was an interesting arrangment on the 4th floor rooftop area. In good weather-it would be gorgeous with a great view of the harbor and the downtown historic district-but-in chilly or rainy weather it isn't nice. We learned after our 1st morning that we coud take our breakfast into the 2nd floor atrium area if we preferred. Breakfast was deluxe continental with the addition of biscuits and sausage gravy daily with an extra hot breakfast cassarole and was very good. There were some noise issues starting at 7am with trucks delivering to Hank's restaurant loading dock directly across from the main building and backed up to the breakfast building that did wake us up daily but-we were getting up anyway. All in all-it is a gracious, lovely place to stay when in Charleston.

Room Tip: There is no elevator in Bldg 1 & 2 but there is only 2 floors. There is an elevator in the bldg...

We recently stayed at the inn, with a room across the street from the main lobby (which is in the lobby building shown in the photo with the arched doors.) We were truly pleased with our experience there. Everyone on the staff was unbelievably helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed working and talking with them. The room was very good value and had a nice blend of some old world touches but modern, clean design. (The tub could use a little updating, but it was clean and worked fine.) The location could not be beat! Also -breakfast was included, and was far more than just a regular continental breakfast, and dining out on the balcony, though the view was nothing extraordinary, was very pleasant (Also, unlike some other B&Bs, the hours were good for someone who doesn't get up a at the crack of dawn!) Plus there were yummy cookies and coffee/tea in the lobby all day. We would certainly return to this Inn if we return to Charleston.

Room Tip: Some rooms only have internal windows into an atrium. Ask for an external window.
