Tour was great and described a lot of detail that normally goes unnoticed. I enjoyed the personal relationships that she has with many of the locals and can talk of them as friends. I wish, however, that politics had been kept out of it. Bashing CNN was a bit small-minded and uncalled for in the presence of a large group.

Theresa, a personable and interesting tour guide, provided information and conveyed her love of the city. She recalled participants names and highlighted information related to people’s place of origin. After many walking tours, I particularly appreciated her clarity of speech as I could hear every word she spoke. Thank you Theresa!

We truly enjoyed our time with the sisters. Mary Helen was our guide and made the city come alive. Her personalized stories made us feel like we could envision the experience. Be prepared to walk, we were tired afterward but thrilled with the experience. The highlight of our trip.

Led by intrepid and embullient 7th generation Charlestonian Therese, our group of 15 or so traipsed up and down streets and in and out of stories that wove together Charleston's riveting past and present. History, personal anecdotes, interesting and quirky fun facts...she never missed a beat or an opportunity to cheerily greet her many, many friends along our route. To have someone guide us around this beautiful city who knows it inside and out, who loves it for its beauty, and who recognizes the city's ugly role in the slave system...well...it was enchanting. Therese provides context to a complicated story. And she's whip-smart and funny to boot!
