Eating here is like visiting an adventurous chef in their home. 5 course tasting menu, changes every night. My husband is not an adventurous eater, I am, and we were both thrilled with the food! Relatively short meal, we were out in about an hour, but our group was fairly quiet, and frankly I was happy to have plenty of time for an after-dinner stop anyway.

The chefs insisted this is not a restaurant it is a kitchen. One called it a food truck without wheels. Sits about 16 at a counter overlooking the kitchen, and two tables for four. Apparently you can have a party in the back room where there are two long tables but they are not used for the average meal. Three sittings of the 16 or so a night. Five courses, no choices. They will accommodate food allergies or special food needs with replacements such as spinich instead of orzo for the gluten avoident. Our five courses were a great squash soup, duck breast on salad, scallop ceviche, lamb meatballs over orzo, and shortribs with mashed potatoe and kale. The food was all very good to great. If you are ok without having choices this place is wonderful. The chefs told us how they made the food, fooled around with us. $30 for the meal is a major bargain in expensive Charleston. We also had a pretty good bottle of wind for $30.

On the spur of the moment, we decided to swing by Charleston on our way down to Florida. I researched restaurants and this was rated #2. I didn't think we had a chance in getting a reservation on such short notice but, after texting a request we found out we were able to get a reservation for 2.

The restaurant is small, seats about 10 at the chef's table (overlooking the kitchen) and another 2 or 3 tables seating about 6 more.

Every night is a new menu. We loved every single dish they served us, portions were perfect. I'll show pictures of every course.

1 & 2 - Coconut and Carrot soup and Fried Artichoke salad
3 - Moroccan Chicken and couscous
4 - Almond crusted Pork Loin, coconut rice and pickled red cabbage
5 - White chocolate berry tart

Our second visit. It just doesn't disappoint. If you can't get a reservation, ask to be placed on their waiting list. Doors open at your designated dining time. Not easily recognized from the street, but that's part of the charm. Thank you for the great meal! We will be back.

This restaurant is currently rated #2 as of this writing. It does deserve this high rating.. they provide you a high caliber 5 course meal at a VERY economical price for Charleston. After serving each course, the chef explains exactly what ingredients were used and even offers to make you something else if you don't like something. Needless to say, there was no one in the restaurant that night that took him up on that offer .. all the dishes were superb.
