Went here with some friends. This is a museum, a great aquarium in the middle of circular stairs! This was a school, and now the classrooms feature Native American, Natural History, a military exhibit and a lot more. Self guided, explore all you want. Spend as much or as little as you want.

I’m a history buff. I love anything to do with history and since I am a Conway native, going to this museum is a no-brainer.

First off, it is FREE. There is no fee for visiting and there is plenty to see.

Second, the variety of exhibits for a small museum is great. From local wildlife to the history of Myrtle Beach and a little of everything else, there is enough to pique anyone’s interest.

Third, the staff is great. The museum director, Mr. Hill, is a native like me and knows pretty much everything there is to know about the area. The rest of the staff are friendly and that just adds to the atmosphere!

An hour to two hours is adequate to tour the museum, so this would be a great way to spend a morning between breakfast and lunch.

Note that the museum is only open Tuesday through Saturday, though.

Very nice place to visit. Clean, friendly, fun. The fish tank was very cool to get the behind the scenes of the building of it. Only problem I found was most of the pictures displayed did not have any explanation of where or what it was. Kinda upsetting as there were many it would have been to know what they depicted.I am posting one that no one had a clue what it was.

Looking for something to do on a chilly day, we searched our phones and decided that the Horry County Museum looked like the place to go. Their website said “Open Today from 9:00 to 4:00”. When we got there, the sign on the door said it would be Closed January 13 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. First of all, the holiday is generally observed on Monday. If you are normally closed on Monday and wanted to give your employees another day, you could have closed on Tuesday because weekends are generally the day families and working people go to Museums. Secondly, you could have put it on your website so people wouldn’t plan their day around it and drive all the way out there only to be disappointed. Not cool...
