Zenobia was great. She really knew a great deal about the history of the area and welcomed questions and interaction.

The rice culture of early Carolina is essential information for understanding much of South Carolina's role in American history. In this plantation story cotton was not king and a quaint museum tucked along Georgetown's Historic Waterfront offers an engaging explanation of the importance of rice. Through artifacts, dioramas and narratives the museum addresses the essentials of this valuable economy and gives true credit to the workers who created it. Our time here was well spent especially since our guide did such a great job of answering our questions. If you are close to Georgetown and have an extra hour, don't miss this explanation of Carolina Gold.

This museum is another tiny one in Georgetown that is definitely a must-see! The clock tower is accessible by accompanying a guide who will describe the detailed diorama's. The guide was refreshingly upfront and did not hesitate to contribute South Carolina's wealth to the African slaves. The history was very interesting and the diorama's helped bring that to life - I'm a visual learner so they were very helpful in telling the history of rice plantations.
