We left the New England cold for a (hopefully) warmer climate. This was our first trip to Hilton Head and so happy we chose to stay at the Omni. It did not disappoint. Our room was ready early- very clean with an updated kitchen area and bathroom. The bedroom was clean and tidy. Then we walked to the balcony, opened the doors to a view of the ocean. Each morning I would wake early to watch the sunrise from that balcony. And Friday, early morning, I watched the shooting stars show. Then, there was the friendly staff; warm and so welcoming everyday. The bartender at Breeze and the waitress at the adult pool were always on top of everything. The beach is miles of sand- I walked an hour each day- easily accessible from 2 different parts of the resort (the adult pool side and the kid pool side). We rented chairs from the woman on the beach- she set them up and there is an umbrella as well. We also rented bikes and rode around the area- lots of well-marked bike trails to explore. There is a general store to ride to, tennis and Pickleball courts, and a few restaurants in the area as well. The health club is clean and has 2 Peloton bikes, some treadmills and a good assortment of free weights. The young woman at the Snack Shack- where the kids can get slushies and dots-was the epitome of service. She was friendly, warm and personable. She was SO busy- but handled each request or problem with a maturity that is generally reserved for someone much older. Note to Omni- you should definitely be looking at this young woman for a management position. We were treated to a couple of resort type surprises- each day our housekeeper would leave some type of a sea animal made out of towels. (very cute touch) and we had cookies and milk sent up one night. A couple of things to note if you have kids: The kids' pools were crowded when they opened. We watched parents scoping out the chairs and "saving" them with towels. There is also a splash pool as well. In addition, there is a beautiful courtyard in the middle with a couple of gas fire pits, cornhole and chairs and tables. The store on property (where you can get waters, coffee, espresso drinks, etc) is crowded in the AM. But, again, I watched the manager step right up and take a few people that just had coffee or one item. They try to make your life a little easier so that you have more time to enjoy your day. Finally, you may want to have a car as the hotel only provides shuttle service for places within the 3 mile range. (There are some good ones in that range- but if you want to go further you have to Uber). Lastly, the entrance and the shuttle were manned by very personable people. They just seemed to really love their jobs and were happy to be there. This attitude is infectious- except for the most cranky of souls- and was a part of our entire Omni experience. We returned to (cold) New England-relaxed and planning to return again. Fantastic vacation!
