The best thing about the hotel was the very pleasant front desk lady that works the evening shift. She was very helpful. The day shift people were not as friendly as the lady in the breakfast area, who we referred to as the drill sergeant as she yelled as numerous people through out the breakfasts. The room was clean although a little scuffed up and the lock did not work on the bathroom door, it would often get jammed and we would have trouble getting out. We did see one bug in the hall but not in the room. Probably would not come back.

Old dated furniture. Hotel needs a facelift. Not next to ANYTHING. Did not know this is a pet hotel. Brown streaks on bed duvet, hair in sink, scratched walls and furniture, furry stained club chair. Old soiled carpet. Room was humid and funky. Not enough breakfast cooked and the worst selection. Floors and elevators mopped and left wet and slippery during high traffic hours.

Hotel Manager's customer service was appalling. She refused to accommodate my need for a working computer printer. Would not install fresh ink so that I could print airline tickets for online check-in. The printed copy I showed the desk assistant was visibly illegible and the Manager made no effort to correct this and stopped others from doing so. Even by the end of the day when I attempted to reprint, the situation had not been corrected. So much for customer service. Desk assistant Susan and other support staff were fine.

Room Tip: Don't go there.

My sister-in-law and I took a road trip, and spent a weekend in Charleston for Spoleto. This hotel was super convenient to downtown, and all the places we planned to see - Sweetgrass Pavilion, Folly Beach & the Angel Oak, City Market.
The room was great, clean, comfy beds, free WiFi; entire hotel was clean, the outdoor pool was well maintained; complimentary breakfast -food was abundant and delicious

We have used this motel year after year during Charleston's Spoleto Festival, and it has been fine until this year's visit. Other reviewers have commented on the tiny amount of breakfast seating, and this became an issue for us last week. I didn't see any trays that would have helped us take food and drinks back to our room because all seating was taken, so we felt like jugglers negotiating the elevator and door access. Additionally, our room had a refrigerator that sounded like a very loud coffee grinder during part of its cooling cycle. We had to unplug it in order to sleep. I don't mind having the sink in the room as opposed to the bathroom area, but I don't understand why, with ample empty wall space near the sink, they couldn't provide a towel rack there. Putting a wet hand towel on the sink's counter is just not hygienic, and the towel has no chance to dry out a bit. There are simple fixes for most of these drawbacks.
