We had a lovely, large room in this historic hotel. We have been to Deadwood several times and stayed at more "modern" places and thought we would give the old place a chance! Very good choice. Will stay again. My husband and brother in law went on the "Ghost Tour" and like learning about the history of the place. We did not encounter any ghosts but it was fun wondering!

Room tip: It was quiet and we were towards the back of the hotel- we were there over Thanksgiving so it was not very loud in Deadwood.

Stayed here for a weekend trip to deadwood. The building is beautiful and the historic part of all of it is great! Rooms are nice and spacious-tons of room! We had a couple drinks at the bar and I thought it was odd that the bartender was talking politics and being slightly disrespectful about it. (just doesn't seem like an appropriate conversation to be having while working in customer service) I also noticed when I was crawling into bed that there were stains and hairs all over the bed so it was pretty obvious that the sheets had not been changed since the last person who stayed. Other than that the hotel is nice and seemed to be clean otherwise. Front desk staff was great at check in and out- very friendly

Thank you for choosing the Historic Bullock Hotel as one of your places to stay! We are proud of the history it holds, the size of the rooms and the friendly staff we have working. With the Presidential election still being fresh on all of our minds, possibly that is why it may have came up in your conversation in Bully's bar, isn't the fireplace atmosphere great! I had a visit with my housekeepers, we so apologize for the one issue you had in your room. We do appreciate your letting us know so we can continue to work on improving our technics for keeping all our rooms up to the best of standards. I sincerely hope on your next getaway in the northern hills to the Historic town of Deadwood, you will again choose our great Historic Bullock Hotel to stay in.

We stayed one night in Bullock Hotel on a trip to Deadwood. The hotel is lovely, but please keep in mind the building is very old. The heat made a weird sound which kept me up at night and the bed was kind of lumpy. Also, the floor could use a bit of a vacuum.
The room was fine and we had two large windows overlooking Main Street. The bathroom was clean.
So, why did it give it 5 stars? Well, for one, these are issues with old buildings. Not much you can do. Next, the people who work there are among the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. I called the hotel literally in tears due to some travel problems resulting in me being in Deadwood and my husband being in Minneapolis and they were so kind to me and helped me out and made me feel much better. The next morning, everyone knew us and were saying "oh! he made it!" Everyone knew me there!

The ghost tour was really fun and informative. Note that during the off season, it's only on the weekends and it's at 5pm, not 5:30.

Like most of the hotels, there is a casino on the first floor. They offer you free drinks while you are playing.

There is also a company called Oh Fudge! that sells fudge on the first floor and it's delicious.

Well worth the stay even if it's just for one night to get the old time Deadwood feel.

We stayed at the Bullock after watching "Deadwood". It fulfilled our expectations of being rich with history (you'll want to take the "Ghosts" tour of the Hotel for a full understanding). Much of the building has been renovated, but there are parts original to Mr. Bullock's Hotel. Most of the furniture are antiques, not from the original building, but are gorgeous nonetheless. Being the Bullock is an old place, don't expect the heating or cooling to work like you want them to. I complained to the front desk about being too hot and they provided a fan, which helped.

Bully's Restaurant is great for breakfast! We ate there both mornings and I had eggs Benedict both times. For $8, it can't be beat.

I recommend staying here to feel a bit of old Deadwood and be front and center on Main Street, but once is enough. The next time, I'll stay up the road at a newer resort and use the trolley to get around.

Tip to the Hotel: get another baggage cart, one is not enough come check out time.

Room tip: Go with a suite - lots of room and maybe you can avoid the hall noise. Gamblers/drinkers tend to be loud after a long night.

My wife and I stayed here twice in 2 weeks as we drove between Idaho and Wisconsin. I am a history buff so staying at Seth Bullock's hotel was a special treat. It is well kept up furnished to give you that feel of staying there in the 1800s. The small gaming space on the ground floor is cozy and fairly quiet. Didn't eat there. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful, Our first time our room wasn't ready until after 4pm which made us a little antsy because we wanted to drop our bags and go out and enjoy main street but we did get in. Their boiler wasn't turned on yet so the room was pretty cool during the night. They gave us extra blankets, we survived OK. On the trip back we were given a Main Street room on the 3rd floor. Nice view. The boiler was on so we did have heat this time. Very much enjoyed the stay. We will plan on staying there any time we are passing by.
