Description: Jim and Jerry Chandler opened the first Sportsman's Grille restaurant in 1985 with ten items on the menu. They wanted to recreate a northern hunting lodge atmosphere with fresh, hand-packed burgers, chili, catfish and cold beer. The business and menu have since expanded with the purchase of the Gerst Haus (German-American restaurant) in 1988, opening of Sportsman's Grille in the Village in 1991 and opening of Sportsman's Lodge in 2000. Jim and Jerry's wives, children and sons-in law are now involved in the businesses, which also include Melrose Billiards (opened in 1969) and three restaurants in Evansville, Indiana. The family's passion for good food, comfortable atmosphere and family gatherings inspire them to provide a great all-around experience. The service is friendly and all food is prepared with the freshest, natural ingredients from family recipes.

I always enjoy coming here because it reminds me of the Sierra Nevada mountains and particularly Lake Tahoe which has always been my favorite place on earth. What I love about this place is that I can order a Patty Melt the way I like it, specify rye instead of sourdough, ask for the meat rare and tons of grilled onions and no one blinks an eye, they just do it. There is something to be said for getting exactly what you want when you want it! Food is always great, service is friendly if not always lightning fast (busy times are sometimes unpredictable) and the atmosphere is like a mini-vacation to the mountains.

One place that is consistent. Like a small lodge in the north but a ocean side shrimp place . Steaks and ribs with the freshest shrimp this side of the gulf

My sister in law was married in Nashville over the weekend. Her family and wedding party gathered there for the night before the wedding dinner. Upon arrival, I was in love with the building. Rustic, sporty, yet casual and large enough for the wedding party/family dinner. The fireplace made it feel cozy and had a home type feel to it. Big screen TV's too. My SIL is a vegetarian. They had ample selection of veggies for her to choose from. And my ribeye was out of this world. Service was good. Staff was nice. Food was delicious!!
There is an outdoor area to eat at or get up and stretch your legs after eating. Restaurant has a pond beside it. Very nice and nicely landscaped. There were several children attending this dinner. After we ate, we went outside to this area. The kids ran around chasing lightning bugs and playing tag. Also made for a great backdrop for family/friends pictures.

We really enjoyed this restaurant and went back several times during our visit. Lots of choices - pretty much anyone can find something they want here.

This has become one of our top Resturants to meet for our after work gals group. Great relaxing atmosphere. The food & service are always good. We never feel rushed and have an enjoyable visit. Be sure to check out the chalk board list of the days specials.
